Okay want to know how many others are dealing with this-----MONEY STRESS.. I keep setting these budgets for us to save money by. I am trying so hard to keep putting everything in the savings accout but I love shopping too. I just need some instant gratification, lol Plus I work like 3 jobs. As for FH he works his one job and it drives me crazy I come home everyday and he is lieing on the couch watching tv. Am I crazy for wanting hime to get a part time job to help out right now? We want to be able to save enough moeny for the wedding and also be able to buy a house sometime soon too.
I feel as though we cant even do anything anymore. It was by friends birthday Friday night and we could not go out to dinner with them because we did not wan to spend the money.
Does anyone else feel like they have to keep turning things down or feel as though yoiu are never going to be able to catch up financially...

Re: SAving Money
I was supposed to stop shopping but like you I cant...I have a shopping problem (seriously, not a joke). So every time I set a saving goal I really never meet it. So I have three months to my wedding and have no room to mess up anymore....every penny I have and will get needs to go into saving. It scares me..I loose plenty of sleep, trust me!

Re: SAving Money
try setting up an online savings account hsbc has pretty good rates too like 5%... it stinks when you love to shop BELIEVE ME I AM GOING THROUGH SOME SERIOUS WITHDRAWLS I TRY TO AVOID STORES MALLS BEING IN PUBLIC LOL AT ALL COST BECAUSE I LOVE TO SHOP.... but it is a sacrafice and weddings are a huge cost but it is worth it....
everyday i stress over money issues...budgeting is very hard just have to stick with it... and it is normal to stress over it

I'm already 10,000 over my initial budget! I got a job on Saturdays to help make extra $ and I am seriously controlling myself when I go shopping. FH loves to say, 'Do we really need that right now? We're paying for a wedding, you know. and don't forget your dream house!'
FH is finishing up in the police academy and then he plans to work crazy overtime...

Re: SAving Money
My FH and I joke that since we've gotten engaged, its already like we're an old married couple.
We're trying to save money, so we don't go out to dinner as much as we did when we were dating. We still however make it a point to go out for friend's bdays, but we try to keep it tame. Don't give up everything that makes life as a couple enjoyable, but moderate. Like we might opt out of attending the birthday dinner, but still show up for drinks later at a bar.
In the beginning we stressed out about money a lot too. I'm a horrible saver, so as a solution I set up my paycheck to automatically move money into a joint savings account that we set up solely for the wedding. I had a hard time adjusting the first two-three months with having so little money in my own personal account, but when I look at the money growing in our joint account, it makes me appreciate our joint efforts in trying to pay for this wedding.
HSBCdirect.com has 5% APR for their online savings account, which is great to open if you want to start saving.

Re: SAving Money
I have the same problem that's why I started planning my wedding early. I know that my spending gets out of hand especially around this time of year. Every month I try to go out to enjoy myself. I might go to dinner with a friend or a movie to keep me sane or else I feel like Im working just to pay bills and wedding stuff and that's the worst feeling. I was working 3 jobs at one time also to save money and I felt like a chicken with the head cut off. and I almost had a nervous brake down. So please take care of your self and take some time for yourself.

Re: SAving Money
Well right now I only work 2 days a week so money is not something I have. But I will be graduating this month and have a full time job lined up. After my six months of trainng I will be able to put in for over time which I will probably do for the extra money. I hate starting work and working OT right away but if it's available and I can do it then the extra money can go into savings. We are going to be moving in together soon into an apartment which will eat up a good chunk and I really want to get into a house and start a family. So any available OT will be worth it in the long run. Besides, with my job on OT shift a week and I'll still have 3 days off a week
