Re: Saving Money

We have separate accounts for our own personal expenses, but we opened a joint account to save for our wedding. We pay for everything with a Hyatt credit card so we can earn points to get free nights in their hotels and pay it off right away. We're hoping to have a few nights to put towards our honeymoon after we're finished with everything.

I wouldn't take out a loan. I agree with cj52514...a change jar is a great idea!! You really can save a lot of money much faster than you'd think!

If you have the opportunity to join a credit union - they can be extremely helpful. We could not afford our wedding at all without them. We get checks issued from them (they give you just a few), which is kind of like a credit card account except MUCH better rates because it's a credit union. FH got in b/c his mom was a teacher. We'd love to save, but it's not happening between his student loans going up and a lot of vet bills this year - we would've had to cancel our wedding w/out the credit union. Also plan on using them for our home loan, which we can do a smaller down payment but not a crazy rate. Our wedding and buying a home soon wouldn't be remote possibilities to us without this credit union, so forgive my 'ad' for it - just want to share the info about this as it's been so helpful to us. Idk any info on how to get into them, though - other than it's offered to teachers and such.
