Re: Saving money tips- help!
There are lots of ways to save...DIY projects (I made our table numbers, fan programs, cardbox, guest book, etc!), non-floral CPs, search online for your invites at a cheaper price (I shopped around until I found the one I loved, then found it online for much less than the stationery store was charging!!), pay your vendors in cash to save the tax (one of my favorite tips ever!!!), get your veil from Tri-County flea market in Levittown instead of at a bridal store...I'm sure there are tons of tips I am not thinking of!!

FH and I opened a joint acct at the bank and from our direct deposits from work, we automatically have $400 each come out going into our acct.....$$ has accumulated really quickly before we even knew it. Even if you can only do a small amount, even $75 a week, you will see how fast it adds up!
Another thing that works for us is that we each have envelopes (we live separately) at home and any spare money we happen to have at the end of the week goes in there and will be used for all the tips that we need on our wedding day; florist, dj, church, limos, etc.....We also throw in a $20 here and a $10 there......
We rarely go out to eat anymore and we also bring lunch from home...every little bit helps!!

You can get lots of paper stuff, like DIY invites and gems for your invites at AC Moore, saw a bunch of wedding stuff for discount over there. Also try garage sales for your baskets that is what we are planning to do. Even if they aren't white you can spray paint them and add ribbon.
Look on ebay for things you might need..lots of great vendors and huge discounts as well.

Oh yes and we are doing some DIY also.....instead of paying the extra money at our RH for a candy bar at the vieneese, we are buying the jars and scoopers and candy and doing it ourselves and saving a ton of money....also looking into DIY invitations and menu cards also....

You just made me remember something my grandmother does (or did, i´m not sure if she still does). Everytime she got a $5 bill she wouldn´t use it. She had a $5 jar at home. She said that $10 was too high and $1 was too low but that $5 you wouldn´t miss. She said that it added up quickly. I did this when I was trying to save for something (don´t remember what) and remember that it helped.
You can try that as an extra in addition to the usual things.
Also, for a while I did a different take on the % out of check to savings thing. I actually deposited my money into savings and had a fixed amount go into checking. That was the only money I had until next paycheck - no matter what!! I calculated a little budget for the essentials and a little extra for misc. expenses. That way I would not touch my savings. Sometimes on the next payday I would switch any money left over to savings sometimes I would do it at the end of the month. This was also a help for me.

I suggest opening an ING account. The interest rate is higher than regular savings rates and you can do a joint account and have automatic amounts deducted from your paychecks. Also, try reducing your Phone bills (use skype instead of your minutes or land lines) and reduce the amount you eat out.
There is also a 'Brides on a Budget' thread that was helpful. HTH

I also try to pay for things with cash because even using debit/credit card you might not realize how much you are actually using..you think 5 here 10 there but it really adds up.

Lots of DIY projects. I found great invitations I am buying from Michael's...and have a 40% off coupon. Always google for coupons before you go shopping. We're considering a candy bar, but not sure yet, but will do it ourselves if we do.
The change jar is killer. We save more than we ever think is in there...drop it into TD and goes right into our joint acct. We also do a straight transfer from our direct deposits to our joint. We don't even miss the money.
We froze gym memberships for the nicer months to work out outside. Save so much there.
Got rid of some premium cable services, b/c we aren't really here to take advantage of them anyway.
I cook a lot more and eat out less... bring leftovers for lunch, etc. I am using a nice cardstock for favor tags, OOT bag tags, flip flop size tags / using a paper cutter and a hole puncher to create my own thing.
May not use limos...still up in the air since we are getting married at the RH.
unplug all of our appliances all of the time and use less A/C power.
My very talented cousin is doing my hair for free with trials, etc.
Negotiate with ALL of your vendors. Sold lots of things on eBay for extra cash. For your Rehearsal Dinner, have it at someone's house, keep it low key, but have it catered...still loads cheaper than having it at a restaurant.
May use a timeshare for Honeymoon. There are many sites where owners rent out there homes for a great price and some of these places are in resorts and resort areas.... Try Home Away or Cyber Rentals.com. Save thousands.

Re: Saving money tips- help!
I did start a 20 jar last month and i plan on using this for like my make up, hair and tips plus spending money for honeymoon. FH does get paid off the books so direct deposit is out of the question. I did set up a shared cell phone account plus i managed to get a 22 percent discount with my company which helps. Keep the ideas comming.

Re: Saving money tips- help!
Here are some ways I'm trying to save money:
I've decided to get my BP silk floral bouquets instead of real flowers. I was going to make them using real flowers but I realized I would not have enough time to do it so I've decided to try making one out of silk flowers and see how it comes out.
I'm using silk rose petals for my flower girl; I want rose petals lining my aisle runner and I think it's much more cheaper to use the silk petals than real petals. Who's going to notice anyway, right.
I'm not getting Boutonnieres for FH and his guys. FH hates them and they'll just get crushed when someone hugs the guys.
I'm making my own table number and wedding programs.
I'm buying my truffle favor boxes from efavormart.com; much cheaper than anywhere else.
I'm doing my own pew bows; bought pull bows and I plan to add silk flowers to them.
I would like to have candle CP's, but that would require me to do them myself and I don't think I will have time for this. I hope the florist can provide something.
If you do floral CP's; rent the vases instead of buying them.
I got our cake serving set from Joann's on sale for $5.
I bought our toasting flutes from Macy's on sale; I just bought 2 champagne flutes that I liked and created my own pair.
But you don't even need to buy the cake server or flutes or make your table numbers; just use the one the RH provides.
