I want to send out STD's. 1/2 of the people who are coming are from the Syracuse area. I want to include things to do (ie Tanger, Splish Splash etc.) along with ideas of transportation to and from the hall and places to stay. Would it be a good idea to enclose a note with the STD with all that info or just make a STD in a paragraph form... HELP ME!!

Re: Saving MY date
I'm sorry I'm a little confused?!?
If it's any help, I sent a STD magnet, which tells guests to save the date and a newsletter, with ALL information regarding that weekend, like the hotel, hall, church, transportation, local city guides, etc..

Re: Saving MY date
Just a suggestion...FH and I went to a wedding in Cambridge, Mass. this summer - we got the STD well in advance and it only isted a few hotels near the reception site, so we booked one right across the street from the reception, but we weren't able to attend the ceremony because we didn't know how to get there. We later found out that directions were available at the hotel where the reception was being held, but we had no way of knowing that! So for those guests that stay in hotels, make sure they are aware of how to get to the ceremony!

Re: Saving MY date
kptoys, FHs family is all from Syracuse too! I made STD booklets, I have to take some pics and upload. We did not include what to do on LI, but basically included everything else. I am bringing a draft to the GTG on Friday, if you are coming I would love to share the ideas w. you. Of course, everyone I show it to asks, is this your invitation? even though it clearly says save the date on the cover. I told FH last night that either I am too smart to assume people know the difference between a STD and an invitaiton, or everyone we know is too dopey

Re: Saving MY date
I just finished mine this weekend (well, the rough draft at least) with a little help from my two friends who already did them a few years ago. What I wound up doing is sending a 'Save the Date' in letter format. Our names and the date are on top and then I go on to say to please save the date and to book hotels early. List the hotels we've blocked & give a few other suggestions. Then the last paragrah is other helpful details like time & place of cermony, nearest airport and reception location. I found pretty laser printer paper with a starfish on bottom and a shoreline on the border. They're really cute and very inexpensive. Forum mail me if you want the exact wording I used. I will send direction cards with the actual invitation so guests should not be confused! Hope that helps.
