I'm not sure.... First of all, did a anyone know that if you ship your wedding dress to someone in New Jersey you don't have to pay taxes on your dress? You can do that once it comes in. BUT would you do it? I don't know if it is worth it. You have to pay 150.00 in SH- but I still save 150.00. Is it worth it?

Re: saving taxes on wedding dress
It depends upon the price of the dress and weighing taxes and shipping. Of course, the more expensive the dress the more in taxes you are saving.
My cousin did that years ago with his fiancee's engagement ring. Would you believe they shipped it to another state were the tax rate was lower? I'd be paranoid it would get lost even with insurance.

i did not pay taxes because i live in VA and ordered it from Kleinfelds and I felt it was worth it. It did save me some money.

Re: saving taxes on wedding dress
I am doing this-- shipping is a couple hundred less than the tax of my dress..
You do have to get a shipping form filled out and notarized though..

FI did this - shipped my ring to NJ to his brother's house to avoid the taxes.

Re: saving taxes on wedding dress
Well...it all depends how much the shipping is and how much your dress is. For example of shipping is 75 dollars and your dress is 1,000 dollars, the tax is barely 100 so you're only saving like 25 dollars...Not worth it. But any dress that's 2000 or above, I'd say go for it!

I was given the same info at Bridal Reflections...the cost of shipping was half of what I would pay in tax
