Repost from BHB: Okay, we met with Duet on Sat, and LOVED their work. I'm torn between them and another company that is a lot more expensive. I have heard some mixed reviews about proofs not being turned around in time, and not enough posed traditional shots (I want a combination of both that and B/W photojournalism). Also concerned about the language barrier.
For those of you who booked or even saw Duet...what are your thoughts? Any feedback is appreciated!

That is ultimately why I didnt' go with Duet. I'm concerned about the language barrier and the fact that a lot of brides complained that they are still waiting for their product or that they weren't given the style they requested worries me. However, there are some brides that are 100% satisfied with them. So, you'll have to decide if they are worth that risk and just make sure you get it all done it your contract.

We booked duet. Eric is the one who is hardest to understand and we did fine with him. Im not concerned with product turn over , I think it is more that the brides wait a while to pick out the pictures and stuff, well as far as the reviews I have read said.
They will do whatever you want, just make sure you stress the traditional shots. He said usually one photog does traditonal posed and the other photojournalism when we met with them.

Kris we are in the same exact boat...same two..Duet and the other more expensive one...my FI and I are still going to see Patken as well

i think that you should go w/who you are most comfortable with but at the same time who's work you truly love.
if you do go w/duet, try to specify your photographers. i've seen some duet proofs that look great, and others that look not-so-great.

My sister used Duet for her wedding last year and let me tell you they are amazing. There is no problem with a language casue they spke perfect english. they were so kind and the phortographers were not annoying. I am using them for my wedding cause my sisters pictures were so awsome.

Danielle and I used Duet for our wedding last summer and I have to say they were amazing. They showed up nice and early, took many pictures at the house, and at the park before we got to the catering hall. The pictures came out amazing, and in a few weeks we get to see our Video and then after that our Albums...I cannot wait to see the video.
If I had the wedding to do again I would go with DUET. Their service is excellent and they are really nice people. Eric and his wife Nicole were really good to Danielle and I. Scott

I saw Duet on Saturday too. We both (me and FH) had a very hard time understanding what he was telling us. I really love their style for photgraphy, but wasn't really impressed with the video. Their prices are definitely the best we have seen. I have been reading a lot that they 'filter' the proofs, meaning they don't give you all the proofs, they give you the ones that they consider to be the good ones. That kind of bothers me. We are going to make another appointment with Patken this weekend and one other photographer, I am not sure who yet.

I doubt that is true. They gave us 600 plus proofs and we are also getting all the negatives when they are done with them.... Scott

Well the problem was when he was telling us prices of stuff. He seemed really disorganized for some reason, and I am not sure if it was the language barrier or actuall disorganization. For example, I asked how much parent albums would be and he looked around and was like 'ummmmm... $500 dollars...' and when he showed us the covers for the video, he told us that the leather bound one was extra. Later, FH asked him how much it was, and he kind of did the same thing again, saying, 'Oh, I'll give that to you..' for free? I really wasn't sure, and I didn't feel comfortable. But thats just my opinion. I really do love their pictures, I think that they do great work. I just want to feel 100% comfortable with who I choose.

Lauren...those were my EXACT feelings!! Disorganized..no plan. I mean the price was right but it made me uncomfortable. When we went in I was like 'oh we have an appointment' and he was like 'uh Ok' I could have just said that!
