Just wondering how many of you are still finding it hard to refer to DH as My Husband. I call DH my boyfriend all the time still to people.

Has DH given you any new names since you became his wife?

DH calls me wife.

Wife can you come help me?

Hello Wife,

Addition from Danielle:

LOL!!!

I feel weird saying it.

I'm having a harder time getting used to my new last name. People think I'm crazy when I'm like 'Du- I mean Fortune'

The switched over at work in the beginnig of the school year. All my kids call me my new last name so it's making it easier. But I agree with you . I'm going to edit the post to ask about others and their new name.

we are still in the 'shock' phase I guess. I don't think it still has 'hit' me perhaps I am just really comfortable with this transition... I didn't really cry at the wedding (no tears of joy)... it's odd.

I do send DH texts while he's at work or when I leave him Vm or he calls me I throw in the 'husband' to the end of everything or just 'hi husband!' messages. I try and surprise him and throw it in a conversation.

he said the transition has been easier to go from Fiance to wife then it was from gf to fiance.

For me it's not that bad... the hard part for us both is when we are telling a story and refering to the other but it is in a past tension... (so a time when we were fiances or dating) we use that correct term 'my fiance' etc and people look at us and correct us. So that's interesting.

as for my new name haven't really made that full transition yet. At work my signature is hypenated so people get used to it until i change my last name. But for the most part I'm still Mrs. maiden for the time being.

The name change and title change is harder than wedding planning was.

The last name thing is still hard getting used to. I am back in school and one of my professors calls us by our last name. Well there is a girl in my class with my maiden name so everytime he calls her for attendance or anything we both look up. When he calls 'my new name me' half the time I dont think he's talking to me Its getting easier.
Now saying the word husband comes alot easier, I tend to say hubby or J most times though.

saying husband has actually come easy to me. I think i was so glad when i finally didnt have to say fiance anymore, i hated that word. Since i havent used the word bf in a while, then saying husband was easy to transition to

I find it strange saying Husband but it's only been a little over 2 weeks. He calls me Bride all the time. What does my bride want to drink...and I do this

it's actually kind of cute that he's so happy I'm his wife it's just an adjustment for me.

I haven't changed my name yet but when people say Mrs. married name - I ignore them b/c I don't realize at first.

it's been almost 9 months, and i'm only just getting used to calling him husband. he calls me wifey all the time. i got used to using my married name fairly quickly, but i'm not used to hearing people call me mrs. marriedname. at our closing on friday, someone said mrs. marriedname, and all i could think is what does MIL have to do with anything??

saying husband and wife has been pretty easy but we both slip up on occasion, but as for changing my name, that has been kinda hard, i have changed it personally but professionally that will take time so my boss and i agreed to change for december 1st on the profession stuff, so i have been very confused lately.

Re: Saying Husband and Wife..using your new name

i guess i can't really say too much since it's only been 4 days..lol. But the day of the wedding i kept saying i have to go find my husband.. and i would think oh.. that was easy..lol!! and DH seems to find it easy to say wife.. he would say it even before the wedding, and i'd remind him that it wasn't legal yet..lol!!
It is a little weird.. and i haven't changed my name legally yet since i have to wait for the marriage license, etc. .... but my friends have been calling me mrs. and it's kind of nice. But all my doctor appointments this week are still under my maiden name and that's when it's weird to me..cause then i'm like, oh right... it's different now.!!! does that make any sense? lmaoo

Re: Saying Husband and Wife..using your new name

It's only been 9 days for us, but we can't stop saying to each other, 'you're my husband!' and 'you're my wife!' with huge smiles. The morning after our wedding, we woke up in the Fox Hollow Inn and DH smiled at me and just melted my heart by saying that! This morning, he said 'good morning, Mrs. C---' and I must admit I do find it weird to answer to a new name, but weird in a really good way!!

My kids at school are already making the transition, using my maiden and new names interchangeably. Some of the teachers are calling me by my new name already too. But with DH, it's something that we were both looking forward to so it's been easy.

calling him my husband has been an easier transition than signing my new name. I've accidentally signed my maiden name quite a few times...or I start writing 'ROD' and then scribble it out and write my new last name. I've gotten better at it though.

Re: Saying Husband and Wife..using your new name

I was thinking this the other day. I feel completely comfortable now saying my husband but it's still weird to hear him say my wife.

As for my last name, its going to be such a pain to change it at work that I think I'm going to keep my maiden name. So now I am constantly forgetting to say my new last name outside of work. I still sign the wrong name all the time too.
