Definitely makes sense, sharing expenses really helps! Being a couple means eating out less and less dating that goes nowhere. :D

that is exactly what I was thinking..they say a single person does accumulate wealth but at a slower rate then if they were married.. well of course 2 people paying a 50.00 utility bill is much more easer then one person paying a 50.00 bill

Yeah and if you get a guy that makes 3 or 4 times what you make that helps too!

I know I wouldn't be living in my own house if it weren't for FH. But it's definitely NOT 50/50 he pays more than I do by far. He pays the mortgage and the utilities and anything expensive that is needed for the house, and I pay for the bulk of the food shopping and other household items. I'd love to be able to help him with the bills, but I have no money! My dad's contacts can sometimes get FH a discount on a lot of home improvements so I jump on that as part of my contribution.

I hope one day being married with a house will financially pay off for us. Right now, it's more debt than it is equity - financially that is, we are RICH in LOVE, just not money. I think that artlicle is more applicable in other states too where housing is cheaper. Here there is no way buying a home and having a family makes you money as opposed to a single person who can work longer hours, focus more on their career and can deal with an apartment or a condo. I throw down hundreds of dollar's in food a month! After a while too, you will eat out more too just b/c the novelty wears off and cooking every day becomes a major pain! I have married friends who eat out every single day!
