I know several people that got their dresses there and they were very happy.
I've found this approach most helpful in my life's quest. I just do my best to ignore the reactions of those who don't understand, or if there is an opening I try to enlighten them to another choice.
I got my dress and all the bridemaid dresses from them. THey were recommended to me by my MOH who also got her dresses from them. So far I'm very happy. Their prices include alterations regardless of how much needs to be done. I've been dealing with Gilda and she's very sweet. Regardless of where you go, I recommend telling them your wedding date is earlier than scheduled.
I am SOOO excited! We booked our honeymoon yesterday...a 2 week cruise around the Mediterranean. The BEST part...we got an upgrade to a grand ocean view room...its got a balcony and a sitting area!
Do you remember the person's name that did your alterations?
My fiance and I are paying for the whole wedding. My father might give us some money but as a gift. I am not relying on his money when I do my budget.
Unless your parents specifically told you they would pay for the whole thing I would not assume anything.
