I went to the Huntington Hilton Bridal show about a week or so ago. I filled out some papers when I first walked in the door. I just received a phone call that I won three prizes. The first is a 3day 2 night hotel accomodations. I get to choose from many places. I think they said I would just have to pay the hotel tax. 2nd prize is grocery coupon worth $1,000 to be used anywhere Nationwide. 3rd prize is 20-40% off anything that these people have to offer china, silverware..etc. They told me it would be no cost to me to pick up these gifts and the 1st prize is not at all a timeshare sales pitch. When I go there I just have to fill out a survey and maybe do some taste testing of things they might make while I was there. Was wondering if anyone was ever offered these same things and was it some sort of scam? I am supposed to go pick up my prizes tomorrow night 2/4.

Re: Scam??
Sounds like a scam. Search this site and you will see that it sounds very familiar...like the scams other brides have encountered.

Re: Scam??
i got a couple of phone calls like that. i would just say no thank you i'm not interested. some times 'free trips' are actually time share seminars that you have to sit at in order to actually receive what ever they r giving you.

Once they get you to the 'taste testing' they will try to sell you something. It really is not worth it.

Re: Scam??
not sure if you know that name of the company but it sounds just like the thing i won at a bridal show. I had to sit through a no obligation cookware thingy where the guy showed what it does, etc. Actually really cool stuff. We didnt buy anything (also very expensive) but still got the trip ($50 deposit is all we paid) and the 1000 grocery card. I havent yet used the card becuase im terrible at remembering coupons but if your good at it its totally worth it!
I researched the travel company that they use first and it seemed legit. I just this week chose my vacation.... we are extending our HM 3 days and can let you know when i hear back how that goes. Didnt at all seem like a scam to us but if it is i lost 30min of my life and $50 oh well.. worth it to me.
eta: we tasted some food.. yummy and filled out the survey things took 2 minutes and watched the guy cook for 20min and left with the prizes spending no money.

Yea, I've had the same experience as summerbride09...although I don't remember having to pay anything. The free hotel thing is true, but its only in the US, and they are just a regular hotel, nothing fancy. (At least mine was). The cookware they sold seemed really cool....but way too expensive.

The same happened to me. They want you to sit through a presentation and have you try to buy something. I just said no thanks!!

Re: Scam??
I 'won' something similar after going to a bridal show and all I 'had to do to claim my prizes' was attend a 1 or 2 hour demonstration for some cookware with no obligation to buy. We went for shitz and giggles, didn't buy anything and never used the prize vouchers because they seemed to be crap.. I'd stay away.
