I have an Epson 610 color scanner and it is now giving me problems. I can't scan my wedding photos here and I also need to use it for work, which I start in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of questions:
1. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of scanner, or other Epson scanners? Good ro bad?
2. If I have to buy a new scanner, which brand would you recommend? I don't have a lot of money, but I don't want to buy the cheapest one out there. I need it to scan in photos and text. I'm willing to spend up to $150.
Thanks!

Re: Scanners
What kind of problems are you having? Did you check epson's website? Some company's list the common problems and the remedies.
I have the lexmark x83 all in one! I had problems getting the drivers from Microsoft at first but other than that no complaints!

Re: Scanners
The problems I'm having is when I scan a photograph, it takes about 15 mintues. Then I get it but it's so huge that I can't email it or post it here. With my old scanning program, I was able to scan portion of my textbook and make worksheets for my students. My scanner won't do that anymore.
About 2 months ago, I had to replace the computer program - I used to have Windows ME but it kept on crashing so we put in Windows 2000. Instead of reloading the program my scanner came with, DH went to the Epson website and loaded in an updated program. I think I'm just going to unload this updated program and put the original one back in. It's so frustrating and I know very little about computers. Thanks!

Re: Scanners
It sounds like it is scanning it as a very big file, when you really just need a jpeg file. On your scanning software there should be an option where you choose the resolution of the file and the file type. Test it out by lowering the resolution to the lowest setting and saving it as a jpeg file. You will be scanning less detail, but you will have a faster scan time and a smaller file. Experiement with the resolution until you find a res that's high enough to produce the scan quality you want, but low enough to scan quickly. Also, saving it as a jpeg should solve your problem of having too big of a file.
