I have my first fitting next week and I'm starting to get nervous, because I was about 5-6 pounds lighter when they measured me for the dress last year. I know that you can take a dress in, but I heard it's really bad if you have to take a dress out. Have any of you had any experience with gaining a few pounds between the time your dress was ordered and your first fitting? Did it still fit ok or was it snug? I really don't wanna have to go on a diet after my fitting

don't fret.... you'll be fine... they always order them much larger than your measurements...

I think you are right. When they measure you the tape always seems loose. I think you'll be fine!

PLease I think I have gained like 10 pounds since when they first ordered my dress!! I am on a major diet right now! My dress came in and I wont even try it on till I lose some weight! But I think you should be good because they do order them a little bigger then your measurements to play it safe!

No need to worry. I gained a few pounds since I got fitted last year and to my surprise my dress fits me perfect!

you look like a twig I don't think you have anything to be worried about the the sizes do run large so do not fret!

Mine didn't fit. The zipper wouldn't close. I'm on a SERIOUS diet: they can take the zipper out (but I had only gained 5 lbs & it all went to my belly...I'm a tall chick (5'8) and normally wear a size 6. I tried on a size 10...which was snug & ordered a size 12) I almost cried.
I've lost the weight now (and my second fitting is in 1 month).
My advice: get the first fitting early.

Sorry to be a dooms-day person. Maybe you will have a different experience: I hope so! But if it goes bad: you are not alnoe. PS: small wedding dress = BIG incentive to NOT CHEAT on diet.

I ordered my dress a size SMALLER. .. yes, SMALLER. They Oked it bc they sd worse comes to worse - they could always take it out a little, and maybe make something in the back - and i was like eewww.... BUT I had my first fitting, I had lost the weight, and my dress fit me PERFECT. They sd if I dont lose like 5 more lbs - they can take the dress out 1-2 inches. ... thats ALL that 5-6 lbs will do to you - and trust me - it will NOT be noticeable - BUT you will prob just lose the weight just thinking abt them taking your dress out. (I did - lol)

they took my dress in too much and had to let it out when I hadn't gained or lost any weight.. it was a pain in the @ss I can tell you that

NOT CORRECT!!!!~while most do..mine didnt (b/c they are friggin @sses to the fullest) They ordered my dress to my EXACT measurements and we could NOT zip it up at all.
BUT DO NOT PANIC!!! They had to let my dress out 2 full inches and there is in fact enough material in the seams to do it! DO NOT WORRY! I promise you that it will be fine!!!
ETA:Make a point to be very adament about putting in on AS SOON AS IT COMES IN! I didnt do this and my dress still isnt finished!

I am afraid for the same reason, that's why I started the gym...I ordered my dress in the actual size that fit me...they told me I cannot take it out...but I am determind to lose weight anyway... Good Luck

5 lbs really isn't that big of a deal - your body weight can fluctuate that much in a single day. you'll be fine!
I gained like 15lbs since I ordered it - I tried on the dress a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn't anywhere near fitting - but I'm not all that worried - just got to get my fat butt to the gym!

I agree. I'm sure most places realize that brides are coming in a year or so beforehand and allow for any changes.

You have plenty of time before your wedding...5 pounds is not a big deal...as the day gets closer, stress begins to build, and weight, in turn disappears....(I'm losing weight like crazy, esp. in the last couple of weeks)
