Scattered Bridesmaids

Scattered Bridesmaids

So....

My best friends, the one I want to stand besides me are scattered all over the country

One's in San Diego, One's in Chicago, and the other is in upstate NY. I'm considering asking a fourth person to even out the sides with my FH - they would be either from Florida or Conneticut.

That means (a) I can't visit in person to ask them to stand with me and be either my MOH or bridesmaids. (b) There's no way they are all getting together.

So..... I can only think of all the problems..
- no gathering to get them together
-they don't know one another at all, though they have all heard of one another.
- no one to go dress shopping or bridesmaid shopping with
- No girly chitchats in person
- no crafty get togethers
- None of the usual bridal shower, girls day out, bachelorette, etc

Has anyone else dealt with this, where not even 1 bridesmaid was local? How did you manage? Or am I crazy?

Aww I feel for you .. but just focus on the fact that you will have 3 (maybe 4) amazing women to support you on your wedding day!! I know it must be hard but I was in a wedding where many of the BM were OOT and we constantly had an e-mail thread going. I would make sure to just introduce all of them so they keep their line of communication open as well.

ITA with sjr. Its definately something that can be worked through. Especially if these girls are as close to you as you think they are. I would travel to the moon and back if I had to for one of my best friends weddings. If theyre that close to you theyll be there no matter what

Aww I'm sorry Hun that happened to me friend who was the MOH and the bride lived in FL she had so many problems getting everyone together for everything and some didn't even call or answer her emails ... I felt so bad that she bust her butt to do everything for no one to call her .. I know it's really hard but good luck

I am having the same dilemma! Ideally, I only want one bridesmaid and a man of honor (my brother), but FH wants five groomsmen!! I do have other girls that I would like to ask because they are important to me and also to even out our sides, but they scattered all over: NJ, NC, CT.

I feel like having just the one friend would be easier since she lives only about 1/2 hour away, and I think that I would like to maybe assign an individual responsibility to the others so that they can feel included but not have it be too hard.

I feel your pain, my Maid is in Tennessee and my Matron is in Rhode Island w 2 children. I have one in Green Bay Wisconsin, and another in Deleware, and FH cousin in the city. She is the one i am least close with.

My mother and i do not get along and she is very anti anything girly or crafty. I have spent many nights crying about this but i have found out, truly who to lean on and who not to. I have a few good friends here who although are not in my bridal party were willing to go shopping with me. As for crafts and game nights and ladies parties, we are here!! We have these frienships becuase we have put the time in to keep them solid thorugh the distance, we knew this when choosing them believe in that frienships.

My FH has amazing family, and his 2 aunts have been wonderful and have even volunteered to go to Klienfelds with me. Does your FH have any family that you can lean on?

If you are able to maintain friendships with these wonderful ladies, from a distance then you will also be able to navigate this hurdle. Do you have an Ipad or Iphone, you could do face time; or you coudl skype...heck, I will bring my ipad w us we go shopping and they can see you all dressed!

and when worst comes to worse, joins us for a G2G, or get on here and we will be waiting with suggestions, hugs and laughs!

XOXO HTH.

Re: Scattered Bridesmaids

Thanks guys for the support...

I should remember the idea to make an email chain early. I was in the one's wedding (friend in San Diego) and we were scattered too.. and she never gave us contact info - boy was it a mess getting organized.

I forgot about skype! Yay. I should look into that, if the time zones don't mess us up too much.

I've kept a close friendship with each of these girls for 7+ years, some more like 12-13 years including flying back and forth on school breaks in high school.

Also - I'd love to meet other LIW brides here in 2013 - but this Friday's my 4 year anniversary with FH. He actually has told be ready for reservations at one of our favorite ethic restaurants - The Curry Club. It should be fun dinner out.

I've got a nice bottle of white Zinfindal wine to open too.
