Schedule of Tastings
We just got contacted by the caterers (Lovin' Oven)at our reception site (Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale) to attend our food tasting in mid-November. Our wedding is not until June. Isn't this kind of early? Shouldn't they ask you to schedule a time rather than send you a notice that your tasting is on Nov. #?? Is this unusual?

Re: Schedule of Tastings
Would you rather get it out of the way? My advise is to always do what you can early. You do not have to make all of your choices so early but why not attend the tasting and get some ideas.

Re: Schedule of Tastings
We asked for an early tasing, so we could make the final reception place decision. Have u already booked the place? If so, I think the tasting should be closer to the date

Re: Schedule of Tastings
I had Lovin Oven for my wedding. We went four months before the wedding. I would not of wanted it any later. Believe me, if you can get this out of the way, then go for it. When it gets closer to the wedding there are so many other things you need to concentrate on.

Re: Schedule of Tastings
I am using Lovin Oven too. (Flowerfield). My wedding is in April, but I have not heard about a tasting yet. However as soon as they call I am going! One less thing to do last minute right?!

Re: Schedule of Tastings
DO NOT wait for Flowerfield to call you about a tasting. Call them, and call often! They have very limited tastings, and they book quickly. The food is outrageous, and this may be the only opportunity you have to taste it, as your reception goes by TOO quickly, so make sure you get to do a tasting!

Re: Schedule of Tastings
I'm a Lovin Oven bride too (Lands End.) We had our tasting the first week in September and our wedding isn't until the end of March. They called us to say that if we wanted a tasting we had to go on that date. Which I thought was a little strange and a bit early, but we really did enjoy ourselves. I got to meet our maitre d and ask all the questions I had. The food was outrageous and the staff was very accomodating.Good Luck!
