We are getting married next August and we're thinking of doing our hotel block a little further away than the closer hotels (20 minutes rather than 10). We are both teachers and we have some 'connections' to get 2 school buses to shuttle our guests from the hotel to the venue. The buses have AC and will be totally clean... no kid germs!! They would be sooooo much cheaper than getting a coach bus or multiple shuttles, but some people told me that they might be cheesy! I thought we could swing it since we're both teachers... it kinda fits. What do you guys think. Is is it a bad idea?

I am a teacher (although FH isn't) and I am doing buses! Oddly enough I never made the connection lol But I did it because we need to transport A LOT of people from the hotel and back and have a longer ride just like you. I was in your exact position thinking 'are people going to think this is tacky or cheap?' but ultimately decided that I didn't care what they thought. I am paying to provide them with transportation so no one gets into any accidents so what I can afford is fine with me!
We also paid extra for the AC (worth every penny). I wanted to get coach buses but I would have needed 2 and it would have cost me over $2,000!!! No thanks! The buses cost me wayyyy less. Its adorable and if someone has something to say about it, they can drive themselves

We used school buses and our guests loved it! They had a great time between reception and hotel.

I know, it's so much cheaper. We would most likely need 2 coach buses as well. I almost fell off the chair when I got the quotes!!! I thought the buses would be a fun idea! Glad some people agree!!! :)

An unexpected snack upon entering the bus for a long ride would add a special touch! Just a thought :)

Since you're both teachers, it's a cute idea. Otherwise, if say spend the money on a nicer bus

I think it's a good idea and I agree that it's even cuter because you are both teachers

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom used school buses instead of shuttles. I was grateful for the ride and had no issues with it. None of the other guests did either.

This is exactly how I am hoping/ predicting that my guests feel as well.

I love that idea! I think its original and different. I wouldn't even think school bus companies would or could do that, but if they do that's awesome.

We're thinking about doing this! We figure everyone going on the bus to the hotel after party will already be buzzed and find the school bus entertaining! Or at least we hope so... :) It's at least 1/2 the price of renting shuttle vans from our hotel!

Just be careful.. I had a terrible experience with first student at my wedding in march and wish I had spent the extra money to get shuttles from a limo company .. However I know girls on here had good experiences w them so maybe I was just unlucky lol
