can you believe, because of the 'impending' snow storm, they have closed school!! i live in east northport, and apparently several school districts have already closed.

We got out at 11am. Which means no days taken away from vacation. YEAH!! Working in a school really does have some pluses!

My district has a policy NO EARLY RELEASES EVER!
I hate it and we hardly close. We average one day a year! I am glad not to lose the day off the break but I hate spending all day being nervous about driving home!

I hate when a district does not think about the teacher's commute...
We never get released early either...b/c then the parents who work don't know what to do when they come home early....
thats why I guess they closed it early enough to make alternative arrangements
we had to work Jan 1 & 2...so I guess we had a few extra snow days - no vacations affected

You are lucky! We don't even really build snow days in first snow day comes right off memorial day weekend
With the early releases it seems prior to my arrival in my district 6 years+ they had an early release and some 7th grader did not have keys to their house so instead of going to a neighbors he sat on his porch until his parents came home. No sure how long that was so needless to say no more early releases for us

My friend wasn't as lucky. They have to work next Wednesday, which should have been the first day of their spring break.

what a waste of a day!!! we could have had school! iI am going to cry, my april vacation is cut from a week and a half to one week! and I work in a 12 mos school, so I really don't have summers off

i am a special ed teacher for children with autism, so we have a summer program. i only get 1 wk off in june and about 2 1/2 wks in august.
