I totally understand what you are saying. I was helping my FH write his English papers and his teacher would say no you didn't follow the book I would follow the book and she would say no do it this way. I told him to go in there and tell her make up your freakin mind lady... for you

I feel your pain....It can be hit or miss with some professors. Once I went to my econ professor to ask for some supplemental reading materials that may explain the concepts better and he had the nevre to say he couldn't help me. He was like you got A's and B's in your undergrad econ classes so I don't know what's wrong with you!

I am so happy that I graduate in June. Ten more weeks and I am a free woman. FH keeps telling me that he thinks that I am gonna go get another Masters degree, but I think I am through.

How much longer do you have?

Re: School is driving me crazy

Aside from obvious grammatical errors, I think comments on papers are purely objective and based on the professors personal preference and style. BS if you ask me. I consider myself above average in the writing department, I always worked really hard on my papers and I actually had a psych professor accuse me of plagerizing(sp) when I was an under-grad. I'm a fundarsier and write grants for a living now....HELLO!

I feel your pain.... I neve had such a diversity in opinion about my work until I came to St. John's. I am so disappointed in the subjectivity of the professors. I actually got a B on a paper that was way more researched and very well presented by comparison to friend who got an A. When I approachd the professor, she said....but I expect more from you.

I wanted to slap her

ETA: BTW... I am off to grad school as well, but I hear it is better than UG.
Good luck & hang in there

Re: School is driving me crazy

it is downright unreal........If there is no set standard then why the minimum GPA requirements to egt into grad school.....I mean don't they know it is hit or miss..what are we supposed to do, drop a class everytime a teacher decides we are not his taste????? When the hell would we graduate then..in 10 years...............I am highly p-oed about this.

I went to school in England for Christ sake and I was an honor student so how in the world could I have lack luster english.........I happen to consider myself as a better than avrage writer.............. Am I supposed to pretend to be a poor stdent then write an average paper and get an A.....I don't get this AT ALL

Re: School is driving me crazy

I understand again.... I was home schooled by my grandmother, who was a grammer and literature tutor in England. (BTW.. teachers & professor in England are called tutors...just to clarify her position.)

I have professors correcting my proper English into American slang frequently, and it is very hard for me to take!

Keep the faith. Even if your grades do not reflect 'A' work by your school's standards, your entrance exams and essays for grad school will.

Re: School is driving me crazy

I UNDERSTAND..I wrote this long email to one of my professors that I was doing bad in his class and I have a 4.0 so basically I was nicely telling him he is an idiot and I needed to understand where I was going wrong..nothing, he said 'try harder' ..JERK..so last night as I was rushing to submit a 12:00 am due assignment I decided to drop the class..WITH 1 1/2 months to go, but oh well..I need a break, I never see FH, and Im always stressed...so if it takes me another year, its another year! HANG IN THERE>..you can vent to me anytime!

I always prided myself on getting good grades and stuf but right now I just don't give a flying *^%$.... I want a Master's degree in something short and to the point. People throw out some suggestiions.............thank god the company I work for is big enough you don't need a degree in anything special just a degree.........Ok people taking suggestion.
