I have a dilemma. My wedding is June 10, 2006. I have 3 classes left for my associates degree. I think 3 classes will be too much while planning a wedding. I decided I can take one of the 3 during the summer after the wedding, this leaves me with an online class and a class on Tuesday nights. I am not so worried about the class work during the semester, but I am petrified of the finals and papers due only 3 weeks before the wedding. Maybe I should just take the online course? Not sure, any advise would be great.

Re: school, no school...what to do?
I am in the same boat, only I am in my last semester of graduate school. My classes end 5/16/06 for my 5/28/06 wedding. I am petrified, but it will all work out. Only you know how you are with school! If you are not diciplined, it may be difficult. Good luck!!

I personally would try to get it all done before the wedding. I know it would be hectic but that's just me. I would want to relax after the wedding.

I agree. Plenty of brides are working full time job, going to school full time, and raising families full time (sometimes all three!) while planning a wedding.
As long as you prioritize and don't procrastinate you can do it!
Remember, we're here to help too!

Re: school, no school...what to do?
i would just take all three classes and get them done. when i first got engaged and started planning my wedding, i was in my last semester of grad school to get my masters degree. i had 2 classes at night, plus a full time internship during the day ( i was in school to be a speech therapist), plus the Praxis test to study for. you have to be disciplined about it, but it can be done. but only you know how you are about school... i know for me, i just wanted to get it done, so i pushed through.

How hard are the classes you need to take? DO you work full time? If not, I say get em over with.

I took two classes at night and worked full time while planning my wedding and it was tough but at the end it was so worth it. If I would of put it off I would be taking classes right now and I'm so happy that I can relax now and just enjoy being married.

It's definitely a lot but doable, took three doctoral classes while wedding planning. I would rather get them over with.

Re: school, no school...what to do?
I will be almost finished with grad school by the time my wedding arrives. I decided to take only one class that spring semester, no summer, and finish in the fall - its more about the $$ than the time issues, if you plan well, you can do it!!

Re: school, no school...what to do?
I would definitely do all three before the wedding. I was going to grad school full time the entire time I was engaged, while working full time (four classes a semester either online or nights).
Realistically, wedding planning does not take up that much time. Make schedules, plan when you are meeting with vendors. I think you'll find you can definitely spare another night during the week. For me I was so glad I had finished before the wedding and took a semester off before starting my doctoral program. It was nice to enjoy the HM and first months of being married without having homework hanging over my head.
Three classes is definitely doable, while working full time and wedding planning. The last few months before the wedding are stressful, but everything's already been booked, so there is really very little to do. Dress alterations, and that's about it.

I think it's better to get them over with. I went to grad school at night and worked full time, some semesters I went 4 nights a week. I find though the more I have going on, the better I manage my time and the more I actually get done.
During the slower parts of the semester, do what you can for the wedding so you aren't swamped with both when the finals come up.
You'll be so happy after the wedding that you got the classes out of the way!

yeah i think you should try and push yourself a little to get it out of the way before the wedding. dont get me wrong-- it's hard but i definitely think you can do it and the end result will be SO worth it! i think when it is all said and done you will look back and say oh i should have just finished it, i could have done it if i just tried a little harder. i am in the process of finishing up my associate's degree now and then i want to at least get most of the bachelor's out of the way before the wedding. my FH is also a busy bee... he is trying to finish up getting what he needs certification wise to become a pharmacist where he may have to actually go do a program for four months upstate about half a year before our wedding...and he'll live there while i'll stay here. tuff but again, in the long run-- SO worth it!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

While it is a lot to do, dont put off taking the classes...just finish up, you'll be much happier to be done with your degree :) Good Luck!

I am also in the same boat. During my wedding I will be taking the last 3 classes for my Masters degree, and before it I will be taking classes too. As long as you know you can handle it, I think it should be fine.

Hey Carissa...I can tell that the month before our wedding was the most relaxing for us because mostly everything was done except for some little details...It is a personal decision but if you get as much wedding stuff done as you can as early as you can, you will be ok with school!!!! Good luck!

You should FM my sister jeanla4c. She is currently getting her doctorate and she took classes while planning the wedding. I'm in a similar situation- I am going back for my masters and most likley will not be done before the wedding since I'm continue to work full-time.

I have school this summer as well - my wedding is on Saturday, I am back to school that week - no HM until August - but I would rather get it over with - not for nothing, my wedding is a party, and thats it - I am not putting my career on hold for it!

Re: school, no school...what to do?
Don’t get the wrong impression girls, I am not putting any school on hold…my career is much more important than a party. My concern is how many classes is wise to take while planning this party. I just don’t want to get overwhelmed or fail any classes.
One is online, the other is on Tuesday nights and the science class I can take in July after the wedding. If I do this I will start St. Josephs in the Fall.
Or
I can take the online class now, the science one in July, and take my other class in the fall at Suffolk County Community College while also attending St. Joe. Options, Options, Options…which one is more reasonable.
