schools listings ?

If you go to the NY Ed Dept website (www.nysed.gov) you can get the school report cards, which give info on test scores, usually one good indicator of school quality.

If you have a specific SD in mind, your best bet is to Google it. School district web sites (if they are good) often give their test data as well. You should also get other info and sites with data.

Also, do a Google news search- this might bring up recent news articles that might have good info (i.e. info about budget votes, etc.)

There was an article on www.msnbc.com that ranked the top 1000 schools across the country. Just do a google.

I know how you feel..This was important to us too. Luckily our district came in #135 and there were only like 8 or so other schools in Long Island ahead of it, the rest were out of state. We pay so much for taxes it better be worth it if you have kids

www.greatschools.net is a great place to look too.
