sciatic nerve

Anyone have sciatic nerve problems?? I am only four months pregnant and my sciatic nerve issues are killing me. I can barely move sometimes.

Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat or has been?? My doctor says I am going to be in a ridiculous amount of pain when I am nine months prego. I am in good shape, and have not gained much weight.. don't know why this happened so early on..

Re: sciatic nerve

Oh how I sympathize with you!!! I haven't been pregnant, but have had sciatic nerve pain - excruciating - flat on my stomach in bed for 3 days.

The spine is shifting and rubbing on the sciatic nerve in the lower back (I think that's the way the explained it)

I had chronic pain for about 3 years - a chiropracter finally helped alleviate it by working on my neck, but I don't know that it would help in the case of pregnancy.

Re: sciatic nerve

I had pain in the very beginning...and I thought that it would be really bad in the end too, but it wasn't! Only a couple of times when the baby moved I had it in the end! So, you may luck out, as I did.

Re: sciatic nerve

Yes, yes, yes!!! I have had little twinges here and there for about 2 weeks. Then, last Friday night I couldn't get out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I couldn't roll over and lift my legs because it hurt too much. DH had to help me get out bed. I was so scared. It must have been because I was on my feet all day cleaning the house since we were having guests stay with us last weekend. I know now not to push myself like that, I've got to rest and take it easy. After resting on Saturday and Sunday, I felt a lot better on Monday. (I'm 15 weeks now). There are some stretches you can do and also you can apply brief heat to the area for some relief.

I am hoping that it doesn't bother me for the next 5 months!

I too had it by 3/4 months - however, it stayed around the same - it's terrible... I would go to get up and I would have to walk all bent over...
Wow, how you forget these things (I've been thinking a lot about going for # 2... and see it's these things that you forget once that little baby is put into your arms...
Just keep thinking of that little baby inside of you that will soon be joining your life forever.

Re: sciatic nerve

I had it with my first pregnancy, but I do not think it started till 6-7 months. I found yoga helped alot. This time it started at 7 weeks. I am going to sart my prenatal yoga tape to see if it helps.
