I've had a long engagement (November 2006) so I've been wearing my ring for a while....
The band is pretty scratched up. When people mentioned getting it re-dipped what does that mean?
What can I do to make it look brand new again? Cleaning it makes it all shiny and all but the little scratches are still there in the band.
Any suggestions? Or places you recommend I can go?
Thanks girls!

Is your ring gold or platinum?

If your ring is white gold than you can have it cleaned and re-dipped in rhodium and it will make it look all shiny and brand new...I don't think you can do this with platinum though. Depending on where you go it will probably cost around $35-50 for the cleaning, rhodium dipping, and tightening of stones. You can go to any jewler. Are you in Nassau or Suffolk?

Go to Gennaro Jewlers in Bellmore.. They are really good. They will clean it and all right in front of you, the ring never leaves your sight.
they redip the band in white gold and clean the ring for you. I did it right before the wedding and my ring looked like new! Everyone thought I got a new ring thats how dirty mine was

Re: scratched ring question
I'm pretty sure they can polish out the scratches. Mine was pretty bad ( i was dumb and wore it out hiking and we were literally climbing on rocks) and they were able to polish most of it out.
