Do you have to keep everyone bride side, groom side at the reception? I know I can do what I want, but his family is like 4 times the size of mine so I was just wondering if there is some rule that they need to stay on certain sides?

Re: Seating
I didnt think there was a side rule, just more like not mixing families at tables.
Also, this might sound weird and crazy, but what if some close family members are offended if they're at a higher table number. If #1 is your immediate family, #2 is his immediate family and you alternate like that you could avoid problems and then people could mingle. Just a suggestion. I am sooooooo far away from even thinking about seating plans!

Re: Seating
I think we will end up mixing friends at our reception...FH doesnt have a big family so they will probably fit at a few tables and most of our guests are friends too so it will work out better that way...try to match personalitiies, i guess.?

Re: Seating
Sorry I didn't see your post because I wouldn't have posted the same thing.
I was planning on mixing the families together but I was wondering if that is a bad thing. I went to a wedding that did this exact thing and I enjoyed myself. You got to meet new people and we had a blast.

Re: Seating
I don't think there are any rules but mixing could definitely be fun - putting the younger crowd on one side the older on the other maybe.

He's inviting more people than I am...so I'm just going to sit people according to relationships to eachother, with some consideration to age etc...translation: HUGE PAIN IN THE @$$

Re: Seating
usually its each family on either side....but it wont hurt anybody if a few tables are on the opposite side...
