seating and driving divorced parents

seating and driving divorced parents

my friends parents are divorced and she is sitting next to me. We are discussing the limos and the seating at the church.

1st- Limos- is it okay to put them and their new spouses in the same limo- friend just commented that they are not too civil. Thoughts?

2nd- at the church, her mothers new husband will walk her down the aisle during the processional and then be seated. Her dad is walking her down the aisle and then will be seated with his new wife. Should they all be seated in the same row or in different rows? If different, who should be where?

Thanks ladies!!

I'm not that into the formalities on who gets seated on which side of the church, but to keep the peace and avoid several awkward encounters, just keep them seperated at all times. It doesn't have to be obvious to the other guests, and it probably would radically increase the parents enjoyment of the day....

I feel her pain. I have a similar situation except one parent is dating and the other is not.

Here is my agenda:

I will have both my parents walk me down the aisle. My mom will sit closer to the aisle and my dad and his date will sit in the same pew opposite end- with my grandparents and one of our readers in between. I felt This way, they were both in the front.

Then for the limos- I think we will have two limos and basically they will travel with my future in-laws and I advised them they are to be on their best behavior!

I am not sure if it will change. Our bridal party is composed of our siblings so unless the families split up and each side travels separatately, which may alleviate some tension in the limo (especially on my future inlaws) . It is a little early to tell.

I was very worried about my parents, but for our engagement party, they really put their differnces aside so picture taking, etc was much easier. Maybe if she speaks with her parents they can make the effort !

I read that they should be in separate rows with the mother in the front . BUT, one friend told me the parent who pays sits in the front row.
