Re: seating arrangements

I started off by importing my guest list into Wedding Wire and using their seating chart tool. I thought it was really helpful. Good luck...it really is a big PITA and took me a longggggg time to do!

Re: seating arrangements

my guestlist was organized in groups...i.e. moms family, moms guests, dads family, dads guests etc....that way when it was time to make the table it was a lot easier because the people that needed to be together were already together ( hope that makes sense)

the problem that I had was seating the 'randoms' ....the people that didnt really fit in with the bigger groups of guests....i worried about them and how comfortable they would be sitting where I placed them up until the day of the wedding....but on the wedding day I didnt worry one bit, everything worked out fine and was happy with where they were

Re: seating arrangements

I made asked my parents and IL's who they wanted to sit with first....so that narrowed down 3 tables. Then I put the BP at two tables with their dates.....total of 5 tables down. Then I had IL's, and my parents make tables for the rest of their friends and family and then did my and DH's friends and co-workers. Once I had my parents and IL's do their family and friends, it wasn't too bad.

Fh and I did this Sunday night in about 30 minutes. I only have the problem that I have more tables on my side and FH has 4 random people he might have to sit with my family or his stepmom's fam. I dunno.

Thanks girls!

It was actually pretty painless for me.

Kris' suggestion was if you got frustrated you should stop and have sex and then it'll be easier

Re: seating arrangements

I really just seated people according to who was friends and who would get along and didn't worry about the 'important' people at table 1 and so on. I didn't seat all of the bridal party together either and that made things easier.
I also gave the seating grid to MIL so she could do her side of the family.....HUGE load off my shoulders!!! I highly recommend giving your inlaws the responsibility of doing their own side...that way if there are any commplaints they can take it up with them instead of you and then it gives them some insight into what you are going through and will be more sympathetic!! LOL

Giving the inlaws that responsibilty cant happen. FFIL has passed and FMIL is in a rehab facility- so its all on us. I am giving my dad the family and his friends but that should be pretty easy.

Re: seating arrangements

I did a mock one and as guests rsvp I highlight them or remove them. Tables so far aren't giving me a headache.

I cried... a lot.

Re: seating arrangements

i used index cards. wrote everyone's name (and guest). then sorted them in piles. when i got a 'table', i put a rubber band around them.

it was actually a pretty easy way to do it, because when i got frustrated, i just put a big rubber band around everything and left it for later.....since they were just index cards (and not a complicated spreadsheet or web app), i could throw them in my bag, and look at it whenever i had free time (maybe on the train?)

I was stressed, and then Neel and I had sex in the middle of dealing with the seating arrangements, and then went back to it afterwards.

GO BANG JERRY!!!!!!!!!
