Seating cards

Seating cards

What are you all doing for seating cards? The Watermill gave us theirs. We were thinking of naming our tables after something (flowers?) But the cards say 'Table No._____'. I'd rather not create more work for myself to make up new cards. So, my question is will it be alright to put the name (say Rose) after 'Table No.' Or should we just stick with numbers???

Oh I think putting the name right after that is FINE. Are the cards disposable? You can maybe buy little flower stickers or something and cover the 'No.' - but if not - it's totally fine. I agree that table numbers are not the way to go! (My FI's family actually gets mad if they aren't seated at numbers 1-4! Can you IMAGINE?!)

I wondered about the seating cards... Does the hall provide them or should I buy them?

I think it depends on your hall... but if they dont party city has them really cheap.. i think like 3.00 for a pack...

I just put the table number and below used the city name. We used names of cities we had been to during our relationship.

We had to use numbers too because of the hall -- make sure you check with the hall first because for them serving it's much easier to have the numbers. So we just used both.

At the tables I made a large card that had the city name and a brief description of why it was so special to us -- and enough room below it for the table number. I had these laminated and it looked really nice.

I didn't even think about the cards at the tables! And, it seems the Watermill is so organized, and they don't really budge on their usual system, so that everything runs smoothly. I think if I ask them about not having numbers or doing both, they might discourage it. Thanks everyone, I'll call them and see.

Hi ladies - if anyone wants I made the cutest table signs using flowers. They are fitted for 5x7 frames and have a color picture of a flower and then the name of the flower below. They can easily be resized to fit any size holder - they are Word documents, so you don't need any fancy software. I will be happy to email them to anyone who wants them. 17 flowers for 17 tables.

I'm not sure how many tables you will be having, but keep in mind that numbers are very useful as guests try to find their seats! If you have more then 10 tables, I'd shy away from using names as it would take a long time for people to find where they belong.

Re: What SonicStef and I are doing

We are taking votive candle holders (super cheap at Micheal's 2 for $1 on sale) and then printing the guest name and table name on either vellum or a nice pape, cutting it, and wrapping it around the votive candle holder, then placing a tea light inside and when guests walk in they will see an entire table of candles lite. They can blow out the candle and take it to their seats with them.

You can also purchase pretty place cards at lots of places. You don't have to use the one provided.
