Seating Chart

My FMiL and FFiL are coming over tomorrow to my parents home to plan out the seating... does anyone have any tips on how I should run the shoe.... They havent really been involved and have recently started to be more involved.

Re: Seating Chart

i say, ur family on one side his on the other...the closer the family the closer they sit to you.

and if ur side has more ppl or vice versa, seat the younger folks (regardless of what side) all together. lol or as close to the bar as possible.

ETS: keep the older folks further from the band...put the younger ppl closer to it. they wont complain as much

Someone on this board used toothpicks with post-its and a foam board. Very Visual, which might be good in your case.
It was a great idea and would probably make adjustments easier.

Re: Seating Chart

I am in the process of doing mine and what we did was ask both parents who would they like sitting at their table. There are 10 people to a table. After they gave us their request,we took it from there. If you are still having a hard time, just put everyone's name in a hat and pull them out one at a time. If there are 10 people to a table, pull out 10 names and they will sit at table 3 and so on and so forth.

Re: Seating Chart

Top 5-6 cards sit at table 1
Second group, sit at table 2
Third group, well you get the idea.

I was thinking that who ever invited the people should figure out where to sit them. Then just combine the partial tables.

I haven't done this yet, so I can't say how it will go.

Hi Jackie Here is what I did, i posted this a while ago it was so helpful and made the process so much easier............................................................

I did this and it was EXTREMELY helpful made the process very fast. Every guest got their name on a post it flag which i attached to a tooth pick. I made a floor plan of the hall with tables on foam board. Post its had differnt colors for the following:
Yellow- a couple
Blue - SIngle person coming
Green - kids
Pink - family more than 2 people that should sit together

Thi smade the process very fast im a geek but im glad i did it. I was free to move people around till we were pleased with the final product

I don't know if this helps - it depends on your room set up.

Try to sit the older people closet to the dance floor & the younger more active people further towards the outside. It lets the older folks who won' dance as much feel involved & it prevents your pictures from having tons of empty seats near the dancing.

I wish you luck. I am not up to that part yet, but I know that my FH and I will be do the seating arrangements.
