Here's what happened. My mom sent me this email saying she wants to see the seating chart. She's been super controling about the seating chart all along and we finally finished the last revision and we aren't moving anyone around now. So, we get the email and we email back politely that we have finished it and that everyone can see it at the wedding but that we aren't going to subject it to more nit-picking because it is just too stressful this close to the wedding.
She emails back:
Since we are paying dear, I suggest you learn a few manners. And we are the hosts and so where the guests are seated is something that we will see and approve. We don’t want people grouped in a way that is not appropriate. We are happy to review what you propose but this is a formal dinner. Stop playing games with this.

WOW. Can't she give you the benefit of the doubt that you group the right people together. Are you going to let her see the seating chart? I am not looking forward to our seating chart when that comes along bc my family is alittle crazy lol. This person is not talking to this person and you can't sit her with him, etc...

wow.
this is a prime example of why i'm glad that DH and i paid for our wedding! i would be worried about something like that happening if someone else is footing the bill.
can your dad be your ally in this?
best bet---show your mom your seating chart...let her 'tell you' where people should go.....and then do what you want anyway. by the time she finds out--it'll be at the reception anyway!

Oh yes it's my mom and she is in prime form with 10 days till the wedding....
I know everyone is stressed but she is making a lot more work for FH and me with all of her 'needs' and 'changes.' Isn't everyone supposed to be taking the stress off me???

Take a deep breath. I can understand as I had to do this with FMIL because FIL's paid for our eparty. She might just be 'concerned' that certain people are all the way in the back. Just talk to her about it.

How annoying for you! I agree with the other girls though, at this point I would just email it to her, see what she suggests and then make the final call. If you think it's fine, just yes her to death and do your own thing. Otherwise, she may stress you out more if you don't show her then you would get stressed if you did.

OMG this brings back nightmares!
I think the biggest issue we ran into with the wedding was the seating chart!
And our disagreements were more about where the tables were being placed in the room than who was sitting at what table.
All I can say is that I feel your pain girl!!!!!!!
Its almost over, then you have the honeymoon to look forward to -- and no family to deal with there!

That is what I would do. With all her 'hosting' duties the day of...I doubt she'll even notice the table issues.

Sorry you're dealing with an added stress like this so close to the wedding. Doing the seating chart for our engagement party was sooo stressful and it's one thing i'm def not looking forward to for the wedding.. so i agree with another post. Send it to your mom to give her the satisfaction of looking at it and nit picking.. then give the one you and FH finished to the hall. There's nothing she can do about it that day .. and she probably won't even notice til everyone is seated anyway!!! good luck!!!
