Seating chart hell with the FIL's...

Seating chart hell with the FIL's...

2 weeks ago, FH asked his parents for help with the seating chart for their side since we haven't even met half of the people that are coming... FH's dad's response was 'Ask your mother.' When he asked his mom, she just said 'Just put them anywhere, they won't complain where you put them.' So they didn't help. We sat everyone as best we could and FSIL said we did a pretty good job actually and only made one change to what we did.

My sister wrote out all of the placecards on Friday because she has beautiful handwriting... We handed in the seating chart and placecards and the alphabetized list of guests with their table number, as requested by our rh, today. About an hour ago, FH gets a call from his father and he's SCREAMING about the seating chart, flipping out that it's horrible and that it has to be changed. FH said that nothing can be done and we already handed it in and that they should have helped 2 weeks ago when he asked for help. FH's dad claims he never asked for help, and it turned into this huge fight.

Now apparently FH's mom is going to our RH to change our seating chart and placecards. I'd love to see this one. I'm very curious to know if she's actually going to go and if she does, if my RH is going to call me and ask if it's ok or if they're going to tell her no. This is just a disaster.

wow that is a . They should ha've helped when you asked, it's their own fault the seating chart is 'terrible' as they say it is.

I love how ppl conveniently forget who's day it really is. Both of you asked for help, they didn't take a few minutes to sort it out with you and now they bark. It is very rude and inconsiderate of them to 1) upset you right before the wedding 2) even suggest that you change your seating plans. It's a snowball affect... it will end up changing more than a few tables.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I had sent it to my FSIL through e-mail for her to check over it and she had said it was fine, except to change one thing, which we did. I guess she showed her parents and they flipped.

It's just absolutely ridiculous because they've barely shown any interest in the wedding whatsoever throughout this ENTIRE wedding planning process and EVERY TIME we asked them for help with something, it was like pulling a tooth. Then his dad calls up screaming last night.. I was like, you gotta be kidding me. I kinda hope FH's mom goes to our RH today and makes a fool of herself because this has me so angry that they would do this!! Besides, everyone will probably be dancing all night anyway because at EVERY family get together, no one is ever sitting down except for dinner time... But apparently it isn't good enough this time.

this is not what you need right now!!! how inconsiderate....you asked for help...they showed no interest now after the decisions have been made they have an opinion????

my FMIL does this to us all the time!! Wants to give an opinion after the fact and then complains that we didnt include her in the planning process!! i sooooooo feel your pain.

i would call your RH now before she gets there and let them know that she's coming and she is NOT allowed to change anything! tell them to tell her nothing can be done about it now without the brides permission and when they call to get it don't answer....
