HI, I think this may be an obvious question but do you need to seat your family closest to you?
I've always seen it that way at weddings but I feel bad putting all my friends and coworkers at table 10 or 11. :(

Re: Seating Chart Question - Who Sits Close to You?
The way my RH's tables are, the 2 clostest tables to me and FH have bass speaker behind then, so i put the BP there and the parents directly across us, ( across the dance floor) I guess it all depends on how the DJ and the RH sets up...

OY! I tried doing it like a seating chart, but it didn't work. We put our parent's tables closest to us, then siblings and close cousins next. Then it went friends, co-workers, then distant family.
We weren't sure if there was a special side that his side was supposed to be on, like in the church. So we decided to put his family on the side nearest one bar. My family doesn't drink. And we also made sure that the tables with older guests weren't the ones closest to where the DJ's speakers would be. It doesn't necessarily matter who's closest because they all want different things. His friends were the closest to the bar. That's all they cared about.

Since we really only invited close family and friends/co-workers it was a bit easier.
Closest: family Then: friends Then: co-workers.

Parents closest. I heard that you should put the youngest people farthest from the dance floor because no matter what they will dance. Let the older people be closer because it will keep them involved in the action and give them more incentive to dance. I don't know if it's true.

Haha! We also arranges ours not only by closest to us (parents & grandparents) but more importantly by proximity to the bar!! Worked out for me since it is FH's (ahhh no longer FH, what do I put now H??) side drinks a plenty! :)
