I'm working on a seating chart and I was wonderin - would it be weird if some tables 8 people and some had 9 or 10? I wanna have people sitting with people they know but the amounts are kind of weird...
ETA: do young babies get their own seat?? I'm clueless about this...

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I think it will be fine. I am going to have to the same thing with some of my tables. I agree with you that I would much rather have people sit with people they know than have all the tables with the same number of guests.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
My hall actually suggested doing that- this way, you could seat people with who they know. I think it may look more interesting to have different size tables.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
As far as different # tables its TOTALLY fine to have that. Im doing that as well.
And I do believe that babies/children count as a seat at a table. And you just have to let the hall know if any of them would need a highchair or something.
Thats what my hall told me.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I plan on doing this. I can't see it any other way. I don't think its weird at all.

That will be fine..we had some tables with 9 people..then we had some w/ 12... babies can get a highchair if you have enough room at the table..we didn't have to pay for kids under 3...they usually get full on cocktail hour food anyway.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
That should be completely fine. As for babies, I'm pretty sure they count as a seat. I'd ask the RH though, and I'd alert them if they need to put a high chair or something in place of a regular chair.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
You're working on your seating chart for next February already? How do you do that when you don't know who is coming yet? I'm so impressed!!! (and a little worried... I haven't started doing mine and my wedding is in 2 months...)
As far as having different #s at different tables, you can do that. Find out from your RH how many people can be seated at each table. I know mine is 8 - 12. When I went there recently, they had a wedding set up for about 150 and the tables had all different numbers at them and it looked fine.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
Just keep in mind that the more staggered seating you do (i.e. tables of 8, tables of 12, etc)., you might end up with an extra table and need to pay for an extra centerpiece.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I'm doing tables from 8-14 people. They don't all have to have the same amount.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I had tables ranging from 8 seats to 10 and 12. As far as the baby thing, how old is the baby? Will he/ she be sitting at the table? If the baby is old enough to sit at the table then yes, he'll get his own seat. My cousin was only a few months old at my wedding and he couldn't even sit up by himself so I put them at a table of 10 with only 9 ppl to allow room for the stoller. And no, he does not count as a seat since he's still on milk.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I think that would be fine, we'll probably end up doing the same thing because I don't want to split up our families just for the sake of the tables looking identical.

I think it'll work out fine, and probably better for seating people who are friends and know each other.

Re: SEATING QUESTIONS
I kind of made a preliminary seating chart when I made my guest list. Definitely nothing concrete, but just gave me an idea of the size of 'groups' of people who were invited and knew each other. I have tables ranging from 8-12 also...most places will work with you on that.
