Both my parents past away about 2 years ago and I was thinking about taking my moms wedding dress and having it made into a coctail dress for the end of the reception. Do you think this is a good idea? Im more concerned with people thinking im crazy for having two dresses, but what do you think?

Re: Second dress?
ths is a beautiful idea!! Sometimes people (not me) think its a waste to buy a second dress when you paid so much for the first... but yours is sentimental and will make you feel good on your day... im sure your mom would approve!! go for it!

I don't think anyone will think you are crazy. It is a very sweet idea. Besides who cares what anyone else thinks, it is your wedding do what you want. :)

Re: Second dress?
your right! it is my day and i shouldnt care what other people think. I think I will do it. Now i just need to find someone who can completely take apart the dress and make another out of it.

I feel the same way. I'm having a second outfit for the reception; it's actually common for some brides to change during the reception.
I love your idea; it's very nice.

Re: Second dress?
I changed into another dress for the reception. It's not crazy, in fact it's the biggest trend right now. A lot of brides change into another dress for the reception so they can dance and walk as well a cute and fun look w/o swaying around in a long gown or train. I've seen a lot of customized cocktail dresses for receptions, Monique lhuillier makes amazing romantic lace cocktail dresses! I think it's a wonderful idea to honor your mother. Don't worry about what others will think, remember it's your big day. Do what feels right to you and make the best of the moment.

I think that it is a good Idea. I would love to do this as well. I just can't see my self dance and fully being comfortable in my wedding gown. I really get down on the dance floor!!!

Re: Second dress?
I think it's a beautiful idea I'm changing into a second dress about an hour before the reception ends, and I'm wearing it for the rest of night and afterparty. I think your idea is great, and really special. Two dresses isn't crazy! Don't let people bring you down though, they will try. We all have our reasons. I can't tango or play drums on Rock Band in my ballgown, both are parts of the end of our reception/afterparty, so I needed a short dress. You have a way to honor your mom, and I think it rocks!!!
