Second Guessing my wedding band

Second Guessing my wedding band

I went to a jeweler, a family friend, who showed me a beautiful pave diamond band... the ring was not only an eternity band, but it was also almost 5 rows... the ring only had a small sliver of white gold showing in the inside of the ring.

My FH and I loved it when i tried it on. We asked the jeweler to put it aside for us, and he did so without a deposit.

Later, we went ring shopping, and my mother basically talked us out of the ring..

- no one sees the diamonds on the underside
- you can't resize a pave ring
- not financially responsible
- it's too thick (which it wasn't)

Blah blah blah...

I was talked into a different ring, that I don't think I love. It's an okay ring. I pretty much went along with it because everyone gave me reasons, and I just didn't care anymore... it's just a ring, right?

Well, now, after all the compromises that we already make, I'm beginning to rethink this one. I didn't compromise my dress, and I LOVE it. I just don't want to look down at my ring and know that there was one better...

FH doesn't mind if I get the other ring... but I feel guilty. Am I just being bratty?

No not at all... I think you should go with the one that you LOVE!! I would get that one and don't worry about being 'bratty.' You are going to have to wear it and look at it forever!! Be happy...no matter what!!

I love pave' also and it was originally what I wanted for an e-ring. But it is much more easy to lose a stone, even if you bang it on something. I am always banging mine, but its a channel set so, so far so good :keeping fingers crossed and knocking on wood:

It IS the ring you will wear for the rest of your life and it should be something you LOVE.

Go with your gut. What does FH think? Will it REALLY break the bank?

ITS YOUR RING!!! It will be on ur finger FOREVER (GOD WILLING)....do whatever makes YOU happy!

I want an eternity band too....see if the jeweler will guarantee it...if a stone fall out they replace it...bla bla bla....also - eternity bands cannot be resized...might be a consideration

It won't be breaking the bank, so money isn't the total factor. It's a combination of practicality as well.

Because of the detailing of this ring, there's no way to resize it, but it fits perfectly now.

Separately, the non-eternity band can only be sized one size.

And yes, the diamonds are more likely to fall out, and since the jeweler is a family friend, I'm sure he'll replace anything as needed.

I Still don't know...

Are you at a size that you have been at for a while and will most likely stay at, or will you eventually need to get a ring resized. You fingers will most likely swell when you pregnant, but I dont know many people who get their band resized for pregnancy...lol

So if cost isnt really a huge factor, then go for it.

Your ring is one of two parts of your day that keep forever - the other is your DH!

If you can afford it and want it, get it.

We splurged on our rings - we spent over $5,000 (and I got two!) -- but we'll have these forever!

Not at all! Go with what you love! Sure your mom's opinion is important to you, but you go with what you love. She isn't the one wearing it!

You are going to wear your wedding ring for the rest of your life. Get the one you LOVE. And don't feel guilty about it- it's the only one you'll ever have and you need to be happy with it.

hel-LO!! this is your ring!! you will have this for the rest of your life!! (or until your DH gets you a new one for your anniversary )

i actually had to be talked INTO getting an eternity band - my mom made the good point that if it spins, people WILL see the underside, and i didn't want to be fidgeting with it all the time turning it right side up.

if you love it PLEASE BUY IT!! this is your wedding and your marriage - no regrets!!

Your NOT being bratty at all! Get the ring that you LOVE! You will be wearing it the rest of your life......so you want to look at it every day knowing that you LOVE your band!

My wedding band is an eternity band....and it's a thicker one. I absolutly LOVE it. And I LOVE the fact that the diamonds are all around because I don't have to worry when my ring turns.......

u are so NOT being bratty! It's your wedding band that you're going to have for the rest of your life! go with the one you love...i absolutely love my rings - i couldn't imagine looking down at them and thinking about another one...the only thing that should be going through ur head when u look at it is a reminder of your love & commitment to ur hubby for the rest of ur lives...not 'geez - i wish i would've gotten that other ring' lol. get the one u want!

If you want it and love it then get what you want!!!
You have to wear it so you should be the one to decide what is going to signify your marriage.
Look at it this way-its your wedding your turn to pick out what you want!!!

You should definitely get the ring that you love the most. You don't want to regret it 20 years down the road and say 'oh man, I should have gotten the ring that I really wanted'.
I have Pave setting too on my wedding band AND engagement ring. Knock on wood but I haven't had a diamond fall out yet. My jeweler tells me to take a needle and try to see if you can move it once in a while. This way you can prevent the falling out stones.
I say if you love it, go for it!!!

Not at all! Out of everything you get regarding a wedding, your band is something you will see on you everyday! You should love it!

Re: Second Guessing my wedding band

The eRing was his mother's. It's a beautiful ring, but not exactly what I would have picked out for myself.

... I'm dragging FH back to the jeweler's today. The cost really isn't an issue, it costs less than my wedding dress!
