second thoughts about a dress

second thoughts about a dress

I got a dress from the wedding salon of manhasset in May and I have been having second thoughts about the dress on and off ever since. I look at pictures of other dresses and I feel like I rushed into the dress (not the wedding haha) and I want to maybe get another dress.

Anyone ever run into a similar situation? If so, since they already have a deposit - will they screw me or will they let me put the deposit towards another dress? I don't think that they have ordered the dress yet, I am hoping not at least. If not I am hoping they will just let me order a different dress.

Awww ...why are you second guessing it? I still can't even find one! Can you post a picture of it, or you in it? I'm sure they would do something at the salon if you really didn't love it or wanted to exchange it...they would still get your business.

I feel like i rush everything. Everywhere i go they call me an easy bride...lol My dress is in, paid for and my wedding is not for another year. Im having seconds thoughts but i know i bought it for a reason. I would try it back on because there is a something that made you buy the dress and then never look at another dress...lol im having second thoughts on my venue, the package i choose cause i didnt get the full wedding package (budget) but if i shopped around the price wouldnt have been much different....Im taking things a little slower now but then again i dont want to not be able to book a certain vendor...hows that for second thoughts...lol

Re: second thoughts about a dress

I have the picture on my phone, I need to figure out how to get it on here and I will post it. I am definitely going to go and try it on again, as soon as possible, this way if they haven't ordered it then I will be able to do something about it. Thanks for the encouraging words - my mom said the same that I bought it for a reason, now I'm just not so sure :-/

I definitely am a second guesser about everything too and have been rushing things. We booked our venue asap too and I wish I wouldn't have, especially now figuring out the longer you make all these vendors hold out, the lower the price goes down! I second guess everything, with the exception of the band and the photographer so far. It's definitely much more stressful than I anticipated.

I hope that they will not think I am crazy when I go back to the Wedding Salon and hope that they will work with me if I want to get something else, I just feel like they will totally screw me on the price of another dress if I decide to get something else because they know I am stuck since they have such a hefty deposit!!!

I have to learn to stop second guessing - I have too much time left and I might just drive myself crazy!

Thanks for listening to me vent

You won't be the first or last bride that takes this issue to them about your dress....its your day and hopefully they will work with you. We all want this day to be perfect but you sound alot like me...go with your gut. Try it on again and see what happens. I saw this the other day on 'Say Yes to the Dress' and she stuck with it....lol Lots of luck. Let me know how it works out. Mine is at the shop and im picking it up saturday..i wanna puke...lol

I will keep you posted and good luck with picking up your dress! Post pics! Let me know how Burton's goes as well, I want to know how they charge and totally agree it is not something to go crazy over - the flowers will only last for the day and don't need to cost a ridiculous amount! I don't want to spend that much either! Good luck ;)

Re: second thoughts about a dress

I went there this past weekend. I told them I still wanted to lose weight and unsure about dresses. I asked whens the last possible time to get a dress, they told usually 4 months from the designer usually and about 2-3 for alterations. So total, 6-7 months. Since yours is not till May, maybe go in NOW and ask to try it on again and others.
I'm sure there's a reason why you picked that dress and when you put in on it looked beautiful. There'll always be other dresses that oooo and ahhhh but they might not look as good on? Maybe you forgot how good you looked in the dress you picked.

Good luck!!!

Re: second thoughts about a dress

I'm going to call today and make an appointment to try it on again this week. Should I tip my hand and let them know that I am having second thoughts before I get there? Or should I just go and see how I feel once I try it on again? I think I am going to go with the latter - just in case I feel relieved once I try it on again.

Yes, go with the latter. Try it on w/out saying anything and see how you feel... you may love it again! If you say something right off the bat, they are going to be annoying and try to talk you into loving it, and ultimately, it's your decision ... Good Luck!

If I learned one thing from all the wedding dress shows I watch, is once you find a dress, stop looking!!! I fall in love with every gown I see, so I had to stop browsing gown websites. I suggest you try to do the same, once you go back to the salon and feel reassured. You picked the dress for a reason!

This happened to me. My cousin sent me pictures of myself in the 1st dress and I took one look at the pictures and I hated what I looked like. I went back to the salon to try the dress on for a 2nd time and I hated it.

My bridal assistant was fantastic and found me the dress and told me my $300 deposit could definitely go towards my new dress.

Re: second thoughts about a dress

I had second thoughts and wound up picking a total different dress so I feel ya girl! Best bet is to call the dress shop ASAP bc as soon as you place an order they usually send it to the designer to start production. Once a dress is in production you usually can't back out of it (or at least at my salon you couldn't) but if the fabric hasn't been cut you can probably apply your deposit to another dress. I think it happens a lot so don't feel bad
