Second thoughts about honeymoon (LONG srry)

Second thoughts about honeymoon (LONG srry)

Ok I’m going to kill my DFH!!!

The one thing he was responsible for was researching and booking the honeymoon! I really wanted Europe but he was dying for beach and exotic. Since I’ve traveled a lot more than he has, and I really like beach, I gave in and let him pick the location with the stipulation that we go somewhere I’ve never been.

So after his research he comes back to me with Venezuela. I checked out the hotel he wanted and loved it. It’s the Hilton Margarita Island. I did a small amount of research, but trusted his judgment. Besides, the honeymoon was traditionally from the groom anyway. (side note- Yes, I know all about the President of Venezuela and his rants against America. I just figured since we’ll be in a tourist location, we won’t really have to worry about these things.)

Now- after everything is booked and paid for- DFH is having second thoughts. He’s nervous about flying into Caracas and has heard all these scary things about Venezuela. I’m all for adventure, but running from the locals DOES NOT top my list of honeymoon activities. I’m really paranoid we’re going to get ripped off or kidnapped and taken to Columbia!!!!

The more I think about it, the more I wish we had gone with a more popular destination. I’m scared we may have made the wrong decision, and there’s very little we can do about it now.

Arg…..

We booked it through our RCI timeshare program so it's basically non-refundable. We haven't bought the plane tickets yet, but we've spent so much on the hotel already I feel like that's pointless.

I think we booked about a month ago.

How about transferring to another timeshare in the timeshare program?
Can you call them and see if that's a possibility?
I;m sorry you're feeling this way about your HM! Don't worry everything will work out for you!!

Does the hotel offer pick-up from the airport? If you can get directly in a (trusted) car, and straight to the resort, you might be OK.

ETS- hmm... did you even say it was a resort? I should read more closely! I assumed all inclusive resort.

It's the Hilton so it offers both all-inclusive and standard. We booked at standard with the option of upgrading later. We initially intended on exploring the town outside the resort so we didn't want to tie ourselves down.

They may offer a car service. I'll ask.
Thanks for the advice!

Maybe you can sell it!
