Secret marriage

I've been doing a lot of thinking and I was debating about having a secret marrage this year. Then next year have a big wedding, and it would be our little secret to keep. I kinda begain thinking about it last night at work. I keep visiualizing something horrible happening to my FH or myself and our families denying us being together. I could see both our families not respecting our wishes if anything EVER happened to one of us. I want to get a living will for both of us, but I know his parents could afford a lawyer to over turn it. If i'm his wife, they couldn't do a thing.
I use to work on an ambulance, and I've see things like this all the time. My FH wants to wait until 06, because hes afarid his parents might find out. But I'm affarid if something happens and he is unable to voice his wishes, they'll do something terrible to him. His mom isn't right in the head and I know he doesn't even trust her.

Re: Secret marriage

My former boss did this. They eloped in vegas with just a few friends as witnesses then they didnt tell anyone and got married a year later in a big traditional wedding!

If you want to do it I say go for it!

If you want to get married now, go for it. But, it seems silly to me to keep it a secret afterwards...

Be careful, some churches wont marry you if you are already married!!! You will have to tell your priest...

Re: Secret marriage

I'm sorry you have so many problems with yuor families! That's what seems to be at issue here. I don't think you should get marroied for that reason. I know it seems more practical, but don't let fear or other people dictate your timeline. Of course t's your choiuce, but starting your life together with a 'Secret' is kind of like living a lie, and not a good way to start of a marriage. Just trying to show you the other side. I completely understand why you would want to do it this way though!
