Secrets Excellence Riveria Maya

We are SERIOUSLY considering this resort for our HM. THey are changing management in the fall so I'll be antsy to see how the new 'Riviera Maya Excellence' is before we book.

Anyhoo, I would DEFINITELY check out tripadvisor.com, Ive read every review on there for this resort and people RAVE!!

we love that you dont have to make dinner reservations there.. always a beef of ours at all-inclusive resorts.

i was booked there but had to change. I was nervous about hurricanes. FYI - Wilma hit Cancun hard.

But, I heard the most FABOULOUS things about it, and want to make it there at another time. I was also really pleased with the price. I think I was paying $5100 for 10 nights in August for a room on the excellence club floor.

I actually just went there for my HM in May and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! I am such a picky hotel person and had a really difficult time picking the perfect HM spot, but I am so glad that I went with Secrets and stuck with it!!

ROOMS-- HUGE and gorgeous, and the jacuzzi's both inside and outside are a great touch!
(only complaint was that the AC could have been colder!) If you are a honeymooner you even get a sash over your door that says 'Honeymooners'

POOLS-- beautiful and there are always chairs and rafts available (even when we were there and the entire hotel was booked solid). They have chairs that actually in the pool on a ledge and hammocks in the pools too (hard to get into but fun!)

SERVICE--Incredible everyone is so extremely friendly and willing to please that they will go above and beyond to meet your needs and make your vacation as wonderful as possible! The pool bartenders will even bring your drinks to you while you are in the pool!!

FOOD--Very good for an all-inclusive, my favorite was the Mexican restaurant and FH's was the Asian one! The dinner on the beach was so much fun and really romantic, they do a great job with that! Room service was really good too, however you have to wait awhile (30-40 minutes)

BEACH--Honestly its pretty to look at and the water is blue (not blue-blue) but it was too hot to lay out there, so we basically stayed at the pool the entire time to lounge around and keep cool!

SPA--Holy cow was this place GORGEOUS!! They really do have a top of the line spa with so many different services. We did the couples massage, pedicures, and the hydrotherapy and it was wonderful! They really do treat you like royalty and its super clean and relaxing! I actually went an additional 2 times without FH because I could not get enough of it and was blown away by how nice it was!

EXCURSIONS--We booked the horseback riding, ATV, and speedboat package through our travel agency while there and it was a blast!! We booked a snorkeling and jet-ski type thing through the hotel and it was not good at all!!! The place we were sent was dirty, over crowded, and I did not feel safe at all! If you are going to book anything go through your travel agency while there!!

EXCELLENCE CLUB--We upgraded when we booked to the excellence club which was one of the best things we could have done!! As soon as you get there you are treated as VIP's and whisked away to the other side of the hotel which has its own pools, beach area, and club house type thing...with free internet, DVD's, books as well as snacks /drinks all day and night! I highly recommend doing this!!

Honestly I really am the pickiest person in the world and have such a hard time with finding places when going away, but this place really surpassed all of my excpectations!! I left there wondering how in the world they do not charge more money for all that they offer!!

its the chance you have to take, i'm early Sept and i'm just going to wing it. It can happen anytime, look last year it happened in Nov. Dont worry
