we went there in June 04! It was beautiful, good service, clean. Me and FI didn't think the food was all that but we lived for 7 days.
the country is very poor, so the ride to and from the hotel isn't the greatest. But again, we lived.
We chose this resort because it was couples only and a lot less expensive than Sandals. It was 3K for 7 nights that included airfare.

We stayed at the Melia and it was really nice, I would recommend it. The food wasn't fabulous, but there were lots of choices, a great bar, nice spa and fabulous pools.
