Seeking interracial couples...

Seeking interracial couples...

well, I am seeking brides who are marrying someone outside of their own race.

I am a dark skin hispanic female who is marrying someone of Irish/German background. Our families have never met in the over 2 years that we have been going out.

I am nervous because I am not sure how my extended family (uncles in particular) are going to act when we have our engagement party next month and they all meet. My family is very boisterious (sp?) and loud and his family is not.

How did you guys get the families together? Did any of you have any problems pertaining to the race of either the bride or groom? If so, did you resolve them and how?

OMG!!!! I feel like I wrote this post!!!!!!!!!

I am also hispanic (My family is very loud, dance, drink, party....that is their motto) My fiances family is Irish and Italian and very Catholic. They are very conservative, don't dance, rarely drink...do not curse. At our engagement party....I was nervous but it went very well. As long as everyone was respectful and didn't do anything way too wacky...it remained ok. FM me if you wanna talk more. I know exactly how you feel.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how our families mesh. My family is the typical loud, funny, happy dominican crowd. FH's family is VERY conservative, and old-fashioned.

I'm going to crack up and see his old family members dancing up a storm with my upbeat ones...

Don't feel nervous about it, though. If the families have yet to meet, then it's probable that they won't interfere in your lives together anyway. So just enjoy your pre-wedding moments & keep your love strong.

What country are you from,? I am from Panama..and fh is Italian.

I am getting married..in a month, and my families...have just met. Only because my parents (father, is always out of town). It is weired, and I know alot of people are talking about it, but hey..I think, as long as they meet before the wedding, everything will be fine.

OMG..I was seriously laying in bed last night thinking about posting something like this just cause I was wondering how many other interracial couples there were.
Anyway I am Italian and my FI is African American. We had our engagment party 2 years ago for that purpose of having the families meet. It went really well. Both our families are very different, not in that one is loud and the other conservative. Actually both our families know how to have good time. But that both the families just have completely different lifestyles.
I have to say everything was great and everyone had a good time and were glad to meet each other. Don't worry everything will be ok. I think most people there will realize they are there to celebrate your upcoming marriage and should have a good time.
Good Luck!

Don't worry, girl... you're going to have the time of your life at the engagement party, AND at your wedding.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this concern.

I am Filipino, and FH is Puerto Rican. His family is outgoing, fun, loud- and there are SO MANY of them! His side is 100+, and mine is about 30, including my co-workers. We always joke that my side of the chapel will be empty.

Anyway...My side is really quiet. I hope they don't clash- I have dreams about our wedding turning into a brawl. BUT I am holding on to the hope that each side respects us enough not to do anything offensive.

I'm right there with ya...

My engagement party was interesting... I was nervous and excited to see my young, loud wacky latino family mix with his considerably older and reserved Italian family. It went just fine... they mingled just fine...**almost** everyone danced, (he he) the only thing is -- and I am concerned about this for the wedding -- my family seemed to tone down their usually boisterous behaviour b/c they were around his family... I wasn't too thrilled about that... I want them to be themselves and hopefully they will be a the wedding because there will be more people. There was only 50-65 people at my e-party (split pretty evenly between the 2 families) so I think my family felt a little intimidated... So watch out for this and make sure your BP really motivates the guests to dance!

My family is Hispanic with me being the lightest (my real mother is from Spain and I got her coloring). Jim’s family is Chinese. Most speak English but a good number of them don’t on his side.

So I’ll have a room with two very proud and honorable cultures where only half of them can speak the same language and all of them will have one accent or another when they DO speak English! HAHAHA

Let’s top it off with his family out numbering mine to boot.

How did I introduce them?? Are you kidding me? They aren’t going to meet until at least two days before the wedding. I just know one thing. Both sides LOVE food. So we’re taking them to a dinner in Chinatown (which my MIL has agreed to host) and with that my father will probably talk about his days in the Navy and when he went to Asian lands. My MIL’s hubby to be is American so that will feed into the mix as well.

I’m not worried. My dad loves Jim and thinks he’s a great guy. Jim’s mother respects me and thinks I’m a good match for her son. That’s the most important part. The two sides are happy to just smiles and talk about the weather than to talk about the wedding! Works for me.
