Selecting a band

Selecting a band

So I have a question for any who has used/is using a band at their wedding - How did you choose your band? I don't know of any live showcases in the next few weeks where multiple bands are playing. I live in the city so it seems ery time consuming to visit tons of bands playing on LI. I have a few recommendations from friends and my RH but just was wondering if there was a better way to go about it.

TIA!!

Re: Selecting a band

It was definitely very tough, b/c its hard to get to all the showcases or some bands are just so well known they don't do showcases.

After seeing quite a few, no one was blowing me away. My mother and I decided to see one more in NYC...Vali Entertainment. We met at their office and saw a tape and it was AMAZING!!!!! Even their resume blew me away.

So I guess to answer your question, after a while all the bands sounded the same but the one I choose was above and beyond!

Re: Selecting a band

my cousin just had In Transit at his wedding and they were PHENOMENAL!!! My only complaint, which may happen with every band, was that the music was so loud, you couldnt even speak with the people at your table!

We booked after going to A LOT of showcases... we must have seen 15 bands before choosing Paris. We knew what we were looking for, and once we heard them, we booked them. I'd recommend just going to see as many bands perform as you possibly can until you find YOUR band. GL!

I wasnt crazy about having a band, but my FH really wanted one. Every 'wedding band' i've heard at weddings always butchered the songs. So, since my FH said he would pay for the band, I did A LOT of research on all the wedding bands in the area. I read reviews on LIW. A band that seemed to keep coming up was CODE BLEU. So, FH and I decided to go to a showcase of theirs. I was skeptical about it, but the first song they sang, I was blown away. They have so much energy and play all genres of music (bon jovi's 'living on a prayer' to frank sinatra's 'the way you look tonight')

Definitely look into CODE BLEU. They are from Skyline Orchestra. You will not be disappointed!!! FM if you want a quote.

I second Code Bleu they played my cousin's wedding and had the dance floor packed the whole night long!!

However, we booked The Projekt because we went to their showcase were blown away!!! I was looking for a band that could play hard rock with the traditional and also have a DJ as well.

We booked 'The Touch' we have seen them play at Claudio's and Napper Tandy's but they are primarily a wedding/party band now...they are awesome and but on a great show. You can check out their website for sample video/audio. They also have a calender with their availability on it.
