In order to take vacation days you need to have email from your direct manager with their approval. So I just emailed my boss to take off a few days before the wedding and the week after for our mini-moon! (And for my birthday - I am a brat)
This was his response:
Yes for July but no for October - we have a big project happening at that time.
Then he wrote back and said he was kidding! He thinks he is hilarious.
