Semi-formal or black-tie optional?

Semi-formal or black-tie optional?

I am having a day wedding, FH, GM, Dad, Grandpa's are wearing tuxes. BM are wearing tea length dresses.

Is my event black-tie optional or are you supposed to put semi-formal for a day event?

I thought that black-tie was just for a night event...but I'm not sure.

It is your day though..if you want everyone at the wedding to wear tuxes, then I guess you should put black-tie optional on the invite. Good Luck.

I should rephrase -- What should I put? I would rather ppl wear suits and semi-formal dressed, but then will people get confused when they arrive at the hall and see my immediate fam. all dressed up in fancy gowns and tuxes (even though I would rather they not)

I think that the guests expect the bridal party and the immediate family to be in tuxes. I don't think that you even have to add semi-formal to the invite, people should know that a wedding is semi-formal.

Usually if black-tie optional is on an invitation it means that the event is very formal and most men go and rent tuxes to attend.

I hope that this helps.
