Send an Invitation to a Celebrity or the President
For anyone interested in this. Supposedly, if you send an invite to the President, he sends you a letter of Congratulations back....it's a pretty cool keepsake, even if you don't agree with President Bush's policies. I sent one to him and to surfer, Kelly Slater...hehehehe....We'll see what happens!
I found this on www.yourweddingplace.com
Even though the celebrity probably will not attend your wedding, they may send a letter of congratulations. This can make a great keepsake to frame and keep on display. Reading the response can also provide fun material for a Best Man or Parent's speech at the wedding reception.
Some interesting people to invite to your wedding are the President of the United States, the Queen of England or perhaps a local politician like the Governor of your state.
How to invite United States President to your wedding: The Honorable George W. Bush and Mrs. Bush The White House Greetings Office Rm. 39 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC 20500
Wedding invitations to the President can also be faxed to: (202) 395-1232
Invitation Tip: The White House greetings office handles as many wedding invitation requests as they can. Send your wedding invitation at least six weeks in advance. Be sure to include your old and new mailing address in case the RSVP comes later.
Visit the websites of your favorite Hollywood celebrities to get fan mailing addresses. Send a wedding invitation and see if you get a response!
I TOOK THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND'S ADDRESS OFF, SINCE NON-BRITISH CITIZENS WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE.

My mother and step-dad did that when Clinton was in office and they got a congratulations note! I would totally have done it if we had a different president! That would be cool of Kelly Slater sent you something!

You can also send an invite to Disneyland in California and you get a signed picture of Mickey with Congratulations back.

I am a non-British citizen but work for a UK based company and sent her an invite after the prez of our US branch told me to.
We got a resonse on our RSVP in a white envelope with our RSVP card in it, addressed to the company care of me and her 'sincerest regrets that her Magesty is unable to attend our celebration.'
It was really funny...cause we only sent the invite because we had the 'Royal Address' thanks to orders they put in!!!!!

Re: Send an Invitation to a Celebrity or the President
Def not the current pres. My wedding is (I think) the day after election day so there'd be no time to invite Mr. McCain
My mum's British - she would get a total kick out of me sending the Queen an invite.
Me on the other hand, does anyone have George Romero's address?
Marty Scorcese?
meh.

Re: Send an Invitation to a Celebrity or the President
I received a really nice congratulatory letter from the white house when I sent my invite..... however, I'm STILL waiting for a response from Willie Randolph and the Mets (I have a feeling that's a little impossible now...)

This is such a fun idea. Will definitely send one to the President, Disney, Derek Jeter and Antonio Pierce of the Giants (my not so secret crush). Adding this to my notebook. Thanks!

My Grandparents got a blessing from Pope John Paul II for one of their anniversayies. It's hanigning in a nice frame in her house.
So did mine! I think for a birthday or something too - maybe another anniversary. They also got things from the White House (Bill & Hillary Clinton)
