Can I send out my Save- the-dates this weekend? It's a year to my wedding but I have a lot of out of town guest!
Also-- wedding invites- I am having a B list so when would be a good time to send out the original list. I would want the responses atleast 6 weeks in advance so I can send out the B list. Is that too far in advance to ask for people to RSVP. And I want them back by 6 weeks prior how many weeks prior to that do you send them out?

a year is a long time in advance. i would say at most 8-10 months unless its a holiday weekend!

It's not exactly a holiday weeked... but it is the kick off to spring break so a lot of people that would be planning a spring break trip might want to know.

Ok here's my plan...maybe this will help. My wedding is Aug 13, 2011.
I will send out my save the dates this August (1 year before) because of out of town guests.
I will mail my invites probably beginning to middle of june to allow 8 weeks turn around.
Once I start getting a bunch of No's....I will then start sending out my B list a few at a time. You can't wait for everything to come back to send out B list or your RSVP date might be passed on the B list invites!!!

Ok...but you really dont need to know the exact number until like a week before the wedding. my mom always said, if you send them too far in advance and then have hte RSVP to quick....so people forget about it and dont' mail it in and then totally miss the date! So be careful. The save the dates will alert them to put it on your calendar and by the time you send out the invites you will have an idea of who is not gonna make it.

So 8 weeks prior send them out... when should the RSVP for? 4 weeks prior to wedding? 5? lol this is tricky!!

I dont know for sure! I'm gonna say my RSVP date will be like 4 weeks before. You have to account for the people who wont send it in on time!
At the 5/6 week mark before I will start preparing the B list. As I get more and more No's in I will send out B list.

I'm getting married the day after you. Happy almost year mark! My save the dates should actually arrive on Friday, my one year mark. I really, really want to send them out but I am going to wait until after my engagement party in June. Maybe July but I doubt I can wait that long!

I actually sent save the date with the engagement party invites last month. The party was only for family and wedding party so they were people that we knew will be there so it was good!!! Yay semi date twin

it's ok to send the STDs out now... we're going to be sending ours out at about the year mark as well (just waiting to block the hotel rooms).

I agree.. but there were already 2 people in my wedding party planning to leave for a trip that day before we picked the date because its spring break week. i think i'll do it this weekend or next depending on when we pick our room block
