Who is sending invitations to their vendors (Photographers, Band, Florist)?
When I was buying my invites, the woman mentioned that I would probably want to do this and I am not sure about it.

Definitely not. You should send them a TY card with your pic, they'll appreciate it

No offense, but she was probably trying to get you to buy more invites....
The vendors are there to work...not be a guest. They have contracts with you stating all the information they need.

I didnt send mine any. They do request it when you have the meeting with them towards the wedding day. For example- 2 weeks ago I picked out my menu- RH asked for a copy of the invite along with a reception card. Last night I met with my DJ and he requested a Copy of just my invite.

I'm not planning on sending invites. I sent a STD to my photographer since it was his picture and I thought he'd aprpeciate that :) other than that, they all have contracts and better show up regardless of invites...

No ivites. You have contracts with them and they should know they have to be there, invite or no invite.

To be honest, I've never heard of such a thing. I think she was trying to get you to buy more invites maybe.

Re: Sending Invitations to Vendors?
No, they aren't guests, they don't get an invitation. Except our officiant is being invited to the reception after he performs our ceremony, so we're sending him one.
Tho we were told to have one available FOR the photographer so that he can take a pic of it, but not to SEND it to him.
