I was never really a huge fan of an A & B list but I fear that we're going to be severely under our minimum. I've added coworkers to the mix in the event that we're really far from meeting our guarantee. The wedding is May 23, 2009. When should we mail out invites to the A list and when should the RSVP date be in order to gauge whether or not we're moving on to our B list? I don't want B-listers to feel like they've received an invitation at the last minute, but I don't want A-listers to receive their invitation 5 months before TIA for your input!

Re: Sending invite & RSVP timeline for A & B list
I was thinking of sending out my invites at least two months before and give 6 weeks for RSVP. I'm hoping that the No's return it rather quickly and I can still get out the 'B' list and they will have around 3 weeks to RSVP..does that sound about right?

Re: Sending invite & RSVP timeline for A & B list
Are there any no's you are anticipating? I have a lot of family no's, and my mom's job is to get a definite no from them as early as possible so we can get the rest of the invites out only a week or two after the first round. My mom is good, so far she got 6 nos before we even sent the invites!

i WISH we did that - we sent our invites out too late to do a second round of inviting - but it would have been nice if we had the option

Re: Sending invite & RSVP timeline for A & B list
I sent out invites about 2/12 months before my wedding date with my RSVP date a month before. It is now past my RSVP date and we are still chasing people from our A list to respond. I would definitely gove yoourself a month to start doing a B list as people are incredibly lazy about sending RSVP's back. I am actually 2 under my min and still waiting to see if I should invite a couple more people just so we are dead on on our min.

Re: Sending invite & RSVP timeline for A & B list
my sister did it like this:
Her wedding date is Dec 26, she sent out the invites on Oct 4... put the RSVP date of Nov 10.. then on the 11th she sent it out to a 'B' person with the RSVP date of Nov 30.. so she has enough time to get back to the RH

Re: Sending invite & RSVP timeline for A & B list
My wedding date is 2/15/09 and I just sent out my 'A' list with a response date of Dec. 6. The week of the 6th I will be doing last minute phone calls to those I have not gotten a response from yet. Then the nex set will go in the mail with a response date for the first week in Jan. That way everyone géts about a month to respond and no one will feel like they were added at the last minute. Also my 'A' list was made up of familty and close friends so they understood why they were getting invites so early.

thats a great idea to send to close friends and family first. Are you getting two different RSVPs printed up. I'm wondering what the cost on that would be.

Actually I did my invites myself so for the rsvp inserts I just put the different date myself. I still don't think it would cost that much to have the company put a different date on a few invites.
