Re: sending out invites
Wedding invites should be sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding date.

Re: sending out invites
We sent ours out April 1st (ok, March 31st) for our July 18 wedding. RSVP date is June 5th. That's 3 1/2 months before the wedding, we mailed them.
We never did save the dates (we only got engaged in January, so it was too close, in our opinion) and have a LOT of OOT invites. Since it's summertime, we wanted to make sure people could plan accordingly.
HTH!

Re: sending out invites
8 weeks though they say for summer weddings to leave extra time because of the sheer volume of weddings and the fact people travel. Even though STDs should solve that problem, people tend to make plans until the actual invitations are in their hands. Stupid people.
My wedding is Aug 8, I am getting them out by Friday.

Re: sending out invites
8 weeks prior. If you send them too early people forget to RSVP. They think they have plenty of time to send back the response, but then when they should send it, they've already forgotten about it.
