Senstive Topic

I turn to you ladies because I am driving myself crazy. I am entering my sixth week and I am terrified of having a miscarrriage. I have never had one before. This is my first pregnancy. I was told that conceiving naturally may be difficult because of my past history-cysts and endometriosis. We conceived this baby on the first try-truly a miracle. I go form y first sonogram in two weeks. All I can think about is if the baby isokay, does it have a hheartbeat, etc. I want this baby so badly, and so scared to lose it. Any words of advice or wisdom?

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am 9 weeks along and petrified. This is my 1st pregnancy and I am 36, so I am very nervous. Had a sonogram last week and so far so good. I keep telling myself to calm down and not worry about it, but I think that is impossible. So I really have no words for you other than - I totally understand.

I feel a little better knowing that I am not the only one that feels like this. Thankyou for responding and sharing!

I understand how you feel, its how I felt in the beginning too, also my 1st pregnancy. The first few weeks of my pregnancy all I did was worry. I think it is very natural to feel this way. As time went by the worry of losing the baby became less (I am now 17 weeks) but its still there. Just try to get through the 2 wks w/o too much worrying until your sono.

All I can say is it's totally normal to feel liek you do. Once your child is conceived and you are aware of it's presence, it's the beginning of a lifetime of worrying. I dont mean that in a bad way, just that it's true.

Try not to read too much stuff that will set you worrying - sometimes baby message boards (not necessarily this one but others like epregnnacy or babycenter) can scare you even more bc you start chatting with other women who are at the same stage as you and early on, you seem to see alot of - emoticons - because some people do miscarry - so if you are exposing yourself to anythign like that, you might want to refrain.

But just take it day by day and try to stay positive. But really, its so normal. I am in my 3rd trimester with my second child and I still worry too. Yesterday morning I woke up and my belly hurt so bad and I start to worry that maybe I rolled in my sleep and cut off the oxygen supply to the baby - and then a little while later, I felt him/her move and I knew it was OK. All it ws was that I was sleeping with a big heavy belly all night and it was all normal. So it comes and goes.

Congratulations on your pregnancy

I feel the same way. I am 13 weeks pregnant with my 1st, had 1 sonogram at 6 weeks and that is it. Thank goodness in 2 weeks I go for my 4th month checkup and will finally hear the heartbeat. I think this will put me at ease and let me know that the baby is okay. I think it is normal for us to feel this way.

I just wanted to say that I agree with what everyone has said. Worrying is normal. My mom told me you worry about a miscarriage until the day the child is born and then you start worrying about everything else.

I agree that you should try to avoid reading things that might make you worry even more. In the beginning I read a lot of things and then I realized that it wasn't helping me. So now I only read positive things and I trust my doctor that everything is going well.

I agree with all the previous advice. Plus, if it will make you feel any better, I've had a LONG history of ovarian tumors (benign, thank goodness), had FOUR operations to remove the tumors, and was 36 when I first conceived. And, now, my beautiful, perfectly healthy little baby is eight months old, and is doing BEAUTIFULLY!!! Just keep calm, and enjoy it....
