I used to be close friends with a colleague and his wife and I sent them a save the date for my September 2011 wedding last year. I changed jobs within my company about 6 months ago, but i'm still on the same floor and I never (I mean NEVER) talk to this person anymore. I occasionally pass him in the hallways at work or see him in the elevator, but we dont hang out anymore. Occasionally our paths may cross for work in the future.
Anyway, our Save the Date is a magnet and is likely on their fridge. I'm a few weeks away from sending out wedding invitations, do i have to invite them? I figure he must feel the same way, thinking, 'do i have to go to this wedding?'
What is the right thing to do? Any and all comments welcome.

etiquette says you should invite them we had the same situation and just sent the invite. we figured if the people felt the same way (that the relationship drifted) they would choose not to come.

While etiquette says they should be invited, IMO it is your wedding and if you don't want to invite them, you shouldn't be obligated to invite them.
If you feel like you should, then you can always send the invite and hope they won't come!

Well you dont talk to him anymore...so i feel you are not obligated to invite him ...things do change and it happens...

I probably would, just because its not like you had a falling out. But I'm sure they will respond No if he feels the same way.

I would invite them and hope that they don't come. It is your wedding though so I would do whatever is going to make you happy.
