I went to the PO to send my invitations today and they told me they couldn't hand cancel! I just swallowed and put them through. Now I'm nervous they're all going to get smooshed!!!
But...
I SENT MY INVITATIONS!!!! wow. I'm nervous for some reason.

Re: sent invites - no hand cancel!
No bows or buckles - just plain regular sized envelopes. So, I hope they're ok!!! Thanks for making me feel better!

Re: sent invites - no hand cancel!
The truth is they didn't WANT to hand cancel them. It's not that they can't. They tried to pull the same bullshiit with us but we insisted!!

instead of handing the invites to them and having them go thru a machine they hand stamp each invite so they dont get ripped or anything....honstly i dont think its necessary unless they have a jewl, buckel or bow on them that might get broken squished or ripped. JMO

Re: sent invites - no hand cancel!
The woman I dealt with at the post office was an angel. She smiled and said, 'Wedding invitations!' lol And then she handed me the stamp so I could stamp them myself. I was surprised to have dealth with a pleasant po worker! I think your invites will be fine though! Dont worry! Congrats on sending them out.

What? What post office is this?
I went to two one here one LI and one in NYC (I thought this one would be a nightmare) but both places were soo nice and accomodating (the city was crowded as all hell b/c I went during my lunch break) still they took their time said 'congratulations' to me and did the hand cancelling. I think it's important for me to b/c I got some RSVP's back of mine that weren't and they were all mangled I guess I used some heavy cardstock that's why.

I know that at my post office they said as long as you don't bring it on a monday when they are very busy. they also said if they can't do it they would let me do it.

Re: sent invites - no hand cancel!
Here's a weird tip - maybe go to a tiny town's post office. Not sure if you have them out on LI - but we have them in NJ. I would think a less crowded, less busy type PO would be more helpful. Here they chat you up and offer you different choices and are very nice- the busier ones in more populated towns don't have time or give a funk about you or your mail, they just want to get you in and out.
Good luck w/your invites, I'm sure they will be fine. Think about all the stuff you've gotten in the mail that wasn't destroyed or ruined. Right?
