Separate beds.....Separate lives

Separate beds.....Separate lives

I was watching an old King of Queens ep on UPN last night. The premise of the show was that Doug and Carrie's bed had broken down and their nieghbors let them use their kids two twin beds. Though awkward at first- Doug and Carrie started getting used to it and discussed keeping it that way. It then spiraled into them doing EVERYTHING separate- movies, eating out- even talking about vacationing separately.

In the end they realized that they really like being together in spite of their differences.

My question to you is - Is there anything you would want separate from DH/FH?

An older woman at work admitted that she and her husband sleep in separate bedrooms and love it.

I personally would love HIS/HER bathrooms- I value my bathroom time and I like being ALONE. Don't know about the separate bed/bderoom thing- but I am tempted when DH snores LOUDLY!!!

I'd be happy having separate bathrooms, but then his would be all dirty and full of little hairs in the sink from shaving So yes, if we were able to get a cleaning lady I'd say separate bathrooms for sure!

Definitely NOT bedrooms, though, I can't sleep without my hubby.

Ditto. At this point, I would settle for a double sink and a bathroom 2-3 x's larger than what we have now. But we're renting, so I can't really complain.

Im pretty selfish with Jim.. hehe I want him with me all the time.

But I'd REALLY love my own bathroom and suite. Sort of like the old idea of a Ladies sitting room/dressing room. A place I could sit and read or listen to my own music without bothering him.

And god knows my bathroom would be totally different from his. I have this thing about neat and tidy, well arranged bathrooms. Comfort is key. I HATE wet sinks, wet floors and dark corners in a bathroom. I have to admit it drives me NUTS to come into the bathroom in the morning and find the sit with a layer of COLD water sitting on the edges. *ANNOYED*

It's annoyed me so much that while we live with his family I use the downstairs/grandmother's restroom in the morning and only use the upstairs/family bathroom for showers. So I guess I do sort of have a separate bathroom.

I don't know what my problem is, but I actually enjoy sharing a bathroom with FH. I find him fascinating. Every thing he does - whether it's putting gel in his hair, or the way he wraps himself in a towel after a shower, or flossing his teeth - is just so darn adorable!!

The ONLY thing I enjoy about sharing a bathroom with DH is showering- TOGETHER

Other than that- give me my space.

I just spoke sternly to him about it when he used to co-live at my house (we co-lived at both places for a year) and he got the clue and kept it dry. Bless him!!

But now i live with his family I do NOT complain about them, I can't.

Seperate Bathrooms !!!!!

Oh the fun I would have the bubble baths, the lesuirly potty time with a book, the seat always down, no cigarette smoke, no pee 'misses' to clean.

I get chills just thinking about it.

I want my own damn bathroom !

We do have separate bathrooms, sort of. I get up before him and shower in the BR in the BR, then I go to my bathroom in the hallway, wake him up and go back to my bathroom. He never enters my bathroom.

I have also claimed the walk-in closet in our BR as my own and gave him the closet in one of the spare rooms. When he starts to put things in 'my' closet I get annoyed and move them. He drives me crazy with the closet because he just tosses his big old shoes in there and I trip over them. He also throws all his jeans, sweaters and sweat pants on the top shelf. THROWS. They hang down and I have to constantly move the parts that are hanging down so I can hang things up.

BUt he needs to be in bed with me or I can't sleep. I can't imagine being a separate bedroom.

I don't really think I want a separate anything, besides the closets we already have separate. I would want his/her sinks in ONE bathroom.

I would love to have a separate bedroom.

While touring the mansions in Newport on our Honeymoon, I got to see how the men and women each had their own bedroom. The woman's was always so feminine and had a sitting area where she received her woman friends and entertained over tea. Her 'boudoir' also often had a desk where she would sit and plan out her social activities for the season, planning grand parties, or deciding whom she would visit in the coming week.

Very often, but not always, the woman's bedroom adjoined her husband's with a door, so they weren't too far away from each other. They each had their own separate bathroom, though.

I would simply ADORE that! My own little 'boudoir' that I could decorate the way I want to! My own little quiet space in the world.

While I love being with my husband and having him with me at night, I also miss the privacy and sense of individuality that having my own bedroom used to give me.

I am gonna start praying for my own bathroom girls - i never thought of this before ! I have always shared a bathroom.

and I agree with the closet trauma - 100% I dont share a closet with FH but his is in our Bedroom and it is an organizational disaster area - at least your FH's clothes and shoes make it in to some sort of closet - his are on the floor and I am always tripping on his huge azz shoes - ooooow !

We have separate bathrooms and I swear that is why God blessed us with a house. I don't think we would of made it sharing bathrooms much longer.

I most definately am against separate beds though. My DH is away now and I have not slept since.
